What if, when we read a book and bump up against something that makes us uncomfortable (angry, confused, upset, offended, etc) instead of demanding the author only write what is acceptable to us, we hold that discomfort with compassion and use curiosity to see what it can teach us about ourselves?

A UK local newspaper printed a story about five people attacking a woman. This sentence threw me…

‘Most’ seems like an odd word choice.

“Most of the defendants have no previous convictions but Mary Turner has 13 convictions for 30 offences, and Wendy Turner 13 convictions for 22 offences.”
