A beautiful stained glass window in the chapel of the castle that was installed to mark the new millennium in the year 2000. Nicola Hopwood's design features the rock on which the castle stands, as well as the meandering River Wye. Three faces symbolise the three parish communities of Goodrich, Marstow and Welsh Bicknor. Down the centre a red ribbon features the phrase "upon this rock" from Matthew 16:18. I chose this image because of the design of the window and because of the way it casts multicoloured pools of light onto the walls and floor.

the facade of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a historic colonial-style building located in the old mining town of El Triunfo, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The church's construction began in 1857 after the discovery of silver and gold deposits in the area. The building features a pale yellow stucco exterior with prominent red trim around the edges, the main arched doorway, and the upper window. The facade shows signs of weathering and peeling paint. A set of stone steps leads up to the intricately carved wooden double doors of the entrance, which is topped by a large arched transom window with a sunburst pattern. Above the entrance, a smaller arched window is centered on the pediment of the building, which is crowned by a small belfry or spire. A portion of a bell tower, also in the same red and yellow color scheme, is visible on the right side of the frame.

They’re not French, but they were mine when we lived in CA. Here are Laverne (a Black Marans), Shirley (Ameraucana) and Thelma (Rhode Island Red). We also had Louise, but she couldn’t pass an egg and died.

one of my favorite Christmas ornaments was given to us by the owner of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Middelburg the week before we moved to CA in September 1978. It was a goodbye gift, but I put it on our tree that first Christmas in CA and ever since.
