In 2021, the Oregon State Legislature voted to recognize the second Monday in October as #IndigenousPeoplesDay, replacing Columbus Day. Oregon joined 10 other states in recognizing the significant contributions that Native Americans have made to the U.S.

Any Edward Gorey fans? This one is one of my favorites and perfect for #Spooktober. A friend gifted me “The Doubtful Guest” a long time ago and I was hooked right away. I now have all of his books.

The Gashlycrumb Tinies is an alphabet book by Edward Gorey that was first published in 1963. The book features 26 children, each representing a letter of the alphabet, and describes their untimely deaths in rhyming couplets. It is one of Edward Gorey's most well-known works and is recognized for its morbid humor and distinctive black-and-white illustrations. Behind the book on the left is a lit candle in a mosaic glass dish and to the right are two spiral bound notebooks.
