It's especially bad when you are using a callout as an excuse to target someone you don't like. It's okay to not like everyone. Though I'm not saying this to say that you should tolerate people who would actively want to bring harm to you! That's different, and its own can of worms.

The type of trauma that dogpiling does to someone is very real, and I've seen it enough in Facebook groups that frankly its disgusting that people can stoop to that level over menial things and not even say sorry after the fact.

I'm against it for a bloody good reason.

If someone is doing something illegal, your first step should not be making a callout post, you need to get the relevant authorities in this situation and present them with that evidence.

And whatever you do, don't use it to farm clout. That's sociopathic behavior and I am not afraid to say it.

the conflict. I think about the one post I saw where it had a callout that prioritized fandom wrongs before actually listing any serious wrongdoings (which are actually okay to talk about, but again, you have to be responsible!) and that truly is what I feel like most callouts really are.

This isn't to say that we shouldn't call people out, but we need to be much, much more responsible for when we decide to make the call to make a callout. You are basically firing a flare gun and catching the attention of everyone around you who might not understand or even have a direct stake in

A lot of the problems with callout culture comes down to the fact that a lot of problems that are being broadcasted are things that should honestly be resolved between two (or more) people in private. They should be a last resort to addressing a problem rather than the first.

When did it become "cringe" to call out people for things?
Seriously, you used to be able to publicly expose someone for something bad they're doing, but I feel like now it's like "Stop it, you're ruining my space where I can be ignorant and blissfully doom scroll."

of their own experiences. It sucks that through all of this and all the promises that we wouldn't repeat the same mistakes, the outcome has ultimately been exactly what I had feared it to be.

It doesn't inspire confidence in a third (or more) round of hopping platforms should it really come to it.

It's crazy to think that the entire point of this site is that you can curate your own experience and people refuse to use the tools given to them to actually curate.

Lists have their problems and certainly not everyone likes to tag their art as they should, but people still should take charge

I can understand a base game maybe having a timed event (for as much as I hate FOMO) but DLC having a timed event is literally unheard of afaik, I hope other AAAs don't get big ideas from this.
