Talked to a longtime manager of @oregondot.bsky.social's High Cascades. He's getting laid off July 31, his dept cut from 20 in winter to just 5.

He said critical mountain highways — which access Crater and Diamond Lake — will become impassable in winter for weeks or months: tinyurl.com/cfbt8sc4

My office has produced a brief report that addresses the tax burden myths that are driving the current push to halt the Preschool for All revenue collection. Credit goes to my Senior Policy Advisor and Chief Economist Dr. Erik Dean. Bottom line: taxes are not driving people out of the county 🧵

It’s been almost 27 years since Phil Knight acknowledged that Nike products had become synonymous with “slave wages.” I wanted to know what people in Asia earned producing Nike apparel. (thread)

This season of #WheelOfTime is extraordinary. This is the fantasy show I’ve been waiting for. It knows how to go BIG but also, this season in particular has made space for the smaller moments in a satisfying way. HUGE cast but you connect with all of the characters. It’s impressive.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

Parks also has other challenging events permit requirements for CBOs in addition to fees. For example if you need to use power, you have to use an electric generator (not easy or affordable to rent). Meanwhile for their own run Summer Free for All events, they themselves use gas generators!
