The brain is a muscle. You have to work it, stretch it, train it in a lot of different directions to keep it agile & functional. Being a jack of all trades is a GOOD thing. Overspecialization creates blind spots & weaknesses that you’ll have no way of coping with due to sheer ignorance.

You do not "have" to do recovery. Telling yourself you do will very predictably engage the "parts" of you that fear & resent feeling trapped or controlled.

Remind yourself that trauma recovery is NOT, ever, a "have to" thing-- it's a "protecting what I value" choice.

It's not always that trauma survivors "want" to isolate. Very often we crave connection & intimacy-- more, even, than the normies.

It's that our nervous system keeps trying to "solve" the problem of our unpredictable reactions to closeness or affection by keeping our distance.
