Ray Bradbury says “don’t think”. He says to focus on practicing and improving your skill and let that be the end goal. He says: “If you do, I think you might easily find a new definition for Work. And the word is LOVE.”

Big update to mandalavis.com ! For my newest mandala I improved the zooming: two finger pinch, mouse wheel. And, I added the first part of editing the mandala. Choose a shape, color, position... #interactions #mandala #datavisualization

I started mandalavis.com in JavaScript to create some interactive graphics. Now I’m starting work on the back end business logic in python. Oh how I’ve missed you python. ❤️❤️❤️

Bookish friends are great because you can be all "read this, it will absolutely crush your soul and tear your beating heart into a million little pieces and you will literally never recover from it" and they'll be like omg yaaaasssss

"'Don't you think saying goodbye to your child will make your death more painful?'
'Wouldn't it be great if it did?' I said. Lucy and I both felt that life wasn't about avoiding suffering."

I'm loving this incredible memoir.

Damage from gut bacteria may play a role in the rise in colon cancer in young adults
Scientists have a new clue in the mystery of why younger people are getting more colon cancer. It may have to do with a toxin produced by a common gut microbe.

Fun with SVG curves! I love the new shape I added. It wasn’t easy to get it exactly right but it looks joyful to me. #joy #art #dataart #mandalaart

Added a new shape that I call a potted plant. The mandala I made for it was really light. I liked it but I added a big dark wave to the perimeter to give it more intensity. Starting to consider how intensity could be a #datavis parameter.

Try out the interactions on my newest mandala.
They're still a little shaky, but they're getting there!
I added a new shape that's an arc lined with dots. Making it involved some fun with geometry.

I added a mandala that is a random combination of the shapes I've added so far. It's interesting to keep refreshing the page. Different combinations of shapes really feel different. Give it a try! #dataart #impermanence

I added a wave shape to my toolbox and created this mandala. It was inspired by a mosaic that I saw in Florida.

Moving away from drawing lines and towards drawing filled shapes organized in layers. This will help interaction functionality so users can interact with shapes as data objects.

My latest mandala. At some point they will start to turn into data visualizations, but so far it's fun to try to make them symmetrical and elegant.
