Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Yeah, there's really something to be said for the diversity of styles and tones of the art in those books. Like, it's wildly inconsistent in terms of modern art direction standards, but it signaled that the game could be played in a lot of different ways.

Anyway, Warframe's October 15 update apparently revises to the new player experience to be less daunting in some way. So if you're maybe looking to get a new life-consuming addiction, I guess Wednesday would be the day to check that out.

The aesthetics in this submarine horror game are mouth-watering. I mean, I want to eat it.

Really looking forward to this one. Don’t know much about the gameplay yet, but it’s got me thinking about Iron Lung and Voices of the Void, and those are good things to think about.

Thanks! For me, one of the most fun things in RPGs is taking some kind of random starting point—like a character’s stats or something rolled on a table—and trying to interpret that into something that makes sense, something that works mechanically and thematically.

Yeah, this particular kind of generative AI use confuses me. Like, if you can’t be bothered to write a thing, how can you expect other people to read it? I think he’d be better off just sending out the bullet point version that he handed to the machine in the first place.
