I'm in Park Slope too and every day I see a car run a red light almost every block.

Good on @timdonnelly.com & @nygroove.nyc for covering this and the way it's framed. If we can't expect the bare minimum of our fellow citizens, what can we. What does it say these drivers have no respect for others.

It truly is shocking that AOC or someone hasn't done this test on camera yet
Trump: AOC is low IQ. If you give her an IQ test, have her pass like the exams that I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. Those are very hard…

The first couple of questions are easy. A tiger, an elephant, a giraffe..

This golf course is a special kind of cursed
The White House's East Wing construction rubble was taken to East Potomac Golf Course. It was reported that the rubble will be used to create mounds on the golf course.

It's really a testament to how bad the Yankees have been that not being swept in the ALDS is his biggest moment in ten years. The announcers - while the ball was mid-air - already started mythologizing a homerun that'll be forgotten when they lose.

Just let the game happen!
From @theathletic.com: Aaron Judge delivered an all-time great swing to spur a Yankees comeback that kept their season alive. Judge's teammates were in awe of the slugger's performance in the biggest moment — to date — of his career.

Our office released a new study highlighting rampant illegal parking across Downtown Brooklyn. Vehicles block sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes & loading zones - making it more dangerous for New Yorkers to get around the neighborhood.

CBS speaks to the 'middle 70%' now. What it doesn't 'speak to' are bad actors who yell the loudest and who no amount of pandering to will make them turn on their TVs every night to watch.
Ellison tells WSJ: "We want CBS to speak to that 70% of the audience that would really define themselves at center-left to center-right."
Weiss adds: "[D]esire for “news that reflects reality” and journalism that “doesn’t seek to demonize, but seeks to understand.'"

The Post is losing one of its clearest and smartest voices.
And, uh, some personal news: This is also my last column for The Post. I was offered and accepted a buyout.
To answer one possible next question, I'm not sure what's next save taking some time off. If you want, you can enter your email at pbump.net and I'll let you know when I figure it out!
For my column today, I wrote about how Trump leveraged America's collapsing trust in institutions — and how his second term has accelerated that collapse. Gift link: wapo.st/3IzN4QA

We as a society are plagued by the “first and only learned” thing. People don’t look or consider anything but the first thing that sounds like it’ll make someone sound smart they’ll stick to it.
Stop spreading this garbage about em dashes in ACTUAL EDITED PROSE OH MY GOD.

Plenty of actual human beings know how to type em dashes! We’re called “writers” and “editors” — maybe you’ve heard of us?

The biggest bull case for AI is that even Grok can’t be forced to not basically hem to the truth (with lots of dumb qualifiers).

Every big tweet has the replies full of people fighting with Grok to get their own worldview confirmed. It is frankly amazing.
One great way to see how the far right is built out of the modern choose-your-own-reality media environment is how MAGA types will argue with Grok for hours about basic facts trying to produce some thin excuse to keep believing what they’re already predisposed to believe

This is a good move in the tradition that Cloudflare usually takes and which their scale is an asset.

But, they also want to be the toll collector which ultimately means they get a slice. This is the first step you’d take to jumpstart that.

This would have lead to the ACA never passing which is now so broadly popular that the threat of repealing it lead to some of the lowest polling in Trump1.
Nuanced disagreement here: I don't think that public opinion is fixed and unchanging.

I do think that people engaged in electoral politics should treat it as de facto fixed and simply respond.

If you want to shift public opinion, you should be invested in something other than electoral politics.
Don’t get distracted by the snark and criticism in this thread. Instead take a step back:

Everything Matt says here *implicitly assumes public opinion is fixed and unchanging. (‼️)

THAT is the key error of the popularists. Their status quo ideology means they reject any efforts to persuade, 1/
