A striking thing about articles I’ve read claiming to “study the effects” of generative AI on student writing skills and consumption of information is that (1) they nearly always find the effects are negative and (2) most “conclusions” are still written assuming that we must use AI, for some reason.

At pd today we were told one of our district goals was "future ready" which meant things like expanding college in the high school and amount of students in AP.

Let me tell you hearing that after proctoring the PSAT really put a nice bow on my day....

Too often world historians use “Afro-Eurasia” with a hyphen. That hyphen has an ugly history. It’s time to start using Afrouerasia.

This past spring I was surprised by the amount of students who didn't realize that AI wasn't all knowing and was in fact a reflection of whomever programmed it.

I hope they've hung on to that learning.
