Hey everyone

I'm Jamie Brittain. I work as Lead Writer at Maverick Games, working on a AAA narrative-led driving game.

Before that I was freelance TV writer, and, in the land before time, co-created the teen drama Skins.

I am one of the hosts of the Crate & Crowbar gaming podcast.

I love you!
D'Angelo was the soundtrack to the year i finally emerged from a decade of mental illness. So, so sad to hear he's gone.

I will never forget him standing onstage in Hammersmith during his incredible live set and singing this like his life depended on it.

Up there with @misterbrilliant.bsky.social's immortal opener for his Hades early access review: "Large portions of my personality owe a great debt to Greek invention, from ABBA musicals and feta cheese to anal sex and fiscal irresponsibility."
ICYMI - was really pleased with this one! Always such a pleasure chatting with Marsh and Chris!
Pod! @cjpt.bsky.social @matronboy.bsky.social and @marshdavies.bsky.social discuss what the f Silent Hill f is about, and then take a cathartically large dump on Alien: Earth. Plus other fab games: Sword Hero, Jump Space and Mind Diver!

The beta for this is out now for backers, and it's as weird & wonderful as I expected: Master & Commander as reimagined by Jeff Vandermeer with the meticulously researched arcane historical details of Annie Proulx. Wonderful stuff from @rossignol.bsky.social and @marshdavies.bsky.social
Our roleplaying game:
- squirms with aquatic awfulness
- invites revenge upon King George III
- has diagrams explaining how wind works
- is now funded
- still won't pay my bills (but YOU could change that, maybe)

Please ameliorate my financial terror by backing:

An advert for GOLD TEETH: "A grotesquely comic tabletop roleplaying game about piracy and occult horror in a cursed corner of the Caribbean." The picture of the book looks nice. Desirable, even.
'gronk out' has huge 12 year old julia stiles appearing as a hacker on a 1993 episode of Ghostwriter energy.
"and now on Radio 4, In Our Time, with Danny Dyer"
"alright cunts, the concept of a renaissance was first applied to the Ottonian period by the German historian Hans Naumann..."

is it weird how profoundly excited i am for you to play f...?
Tears open a door to a dark world and drags you by the throat deep inside.

It reminded me of nothing more than Henry James' Turn Of The Screw, a masterclass in ambiguity, where the foggy hinterland between reality and nightmare is the war in your head and the path beneath your feet.

Brilliant.
whenever it may be, the inevitable WOFF on it is going to be so good!
gonna tell my kids this was Shaun The Sheep
An image of the scary sheep monster from Alien: Earth.
Ordinary People is a prayer for understanding, kindness, generosity and forgiveness in frightening times. Its lessons are completely timeless. RIP Alvin Sargent. RIP Robert Redford.

ah we got ourselves a utica man
Me to colleagues: it's kinda like a steamed hams structure...
Them: what's steamed hams?
Me: (entire 60s era Doctor Who title sequence playing in mind) um
I'm a big fan of "Swagger tighter then a yeast infection/
Fly go hard like geese erection" for sheer inane hilarity
what is the correct spelling of 'breasteses'
also the soundtrack for this sounds like it was recorded by Coil after they'd eaten five christmas dinners in a row in order not to upset the industrial music loving inhabitants of Dibley.
"there's nothing here", "it's an altar", "it's a cake!" - more or less every line from this completely terrifying demo for a 'fully voiced' Amiga game has been rattling around in my head for 30 years and counting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFCY...

Thirded. I dont even particularly like rpgs and i still listen religiously - chill erudition and vibes abound
yep, imagine actually engaging with the thematic substance, subtext and implications of the greatest horror script ever written and chucking anything else in the bin. No-one's done that since they added an S. Brilliant.
Noah Hawley is simply the finest writer working in tv today, for me one of the very few who rises above the banal expectations of this over-lit, underbaked, landfill era of 'prestige drama' and reaches back to when the medium was about storytelling for its own sake. Cannot fuckin' wait, basically.
you have clearly woken up and chosen violence here for reminding me of the deep and profound level of cringe within - "hey drag city records, could i please have joanna newsom's email address please"
(aside) I *will* do the motorcycle clothing shop sketch
My A level politics teacher Pete - who was/is a raving Trot from Barnsley who was once arrested for punching the mayor of Bristol and is politically somewhere to the left of Chairman Mao - he taught me it was the only paper worth reading.
