"With Australia’s transport emissions at a near-record high, the Productivity Commission is more worried about subsidies for electric vehicles that are just 1% of the cars on our roads, than it is about subsidies for enormous 4WDs that now dominate suburban streets."

If the Productivity Commission was serious, it would not target EVs

The Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme is a national treasure. It gets the best price from US pharmaceutical corps, protecting us from exorbitant prices that US citizens pay.

Congrats to PM Albanese for consistently defending the PBS from Big Pharma.

Australia has an opportunity to get out of the AUKUS security pact. We should take it.

AUKUS ties Australia ever closer to an increasingly volatile and aggressive America.

We’ve just finished AMOS2025
Where to weather and climate we took a deep dive
Land and ocean explored too
We learnt so so much new
Did we help keep the world’s climate hopes alive?

Vaccine Nation is a timely, urgent and often deeply personal account of vaccination’s role in our world.

The gas industry has had higher profit margins than ANY other sector in Australia over the last few years.

That's unsurprising when you know how little tax they pay. A THREAD (1/5)

Dear #ABCnews: please stop repeatedly ‘reporting’ that Tim Wilson has ‘reclaimed his old seat of Goldstein.’

It’s not “his seat”. He never owned it to “reclaim”. It’s ’the seat.’ He won it again.

Please try to keep this kind of ubiquitous, insidious bias out of your news reports.

I get so sick of names for things that come packaged with mean-spirited insinuations. Like, 'effective altruism' implies other altruism is ineffective. 'Rational environmentalism' implies other enviros are irrational.

"Climate realism" / realist is the same shit

One party stands alone pretending we don’t have a gas shortage.

Come on ALP - let’s get on with taxing our gas properly and stop being afraid of the gas companies

There is no gas shortage in Australia.

We don't need new gas wells. We just need to stop big gas taking the piss.

wishing the RMS happy 175 year anniversary, and great service to the meteorological communities for the next 175 years.(from a former (long ago) RMS member now a member of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS).
Today marks the 175th Anniversary of the Royal Meteorological Society, founded on 3rd April 1850.
If you were wondering what the weather was like on 3rd April 1850, thanks to the 20th century reanalysis the chart below shows the pressure pattern at 12Z on that day.
