This press conference from Sep with Prizker, Brandon, Toni Preckwinkle, the Attorney General of IL, and the Lt Governor was inspirational as fuck. It set the tone for how the city and the state has been fighting back ever since. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzLE...

It's important also to highlight the politicians who *are* fighting back despite the risk. Here is Illinois and Chicago we have Gov Pritzker pulling no punches. Major Brandon doing better than anyone expected. Even former Major Lightfoot salvaging her former reputation!
This is disastrous. Roughly 42,000,000 people will not have enough to eat in November. That's 12% of the US population (1 in 8 people), who will lose their ability to feed themselves sufficiently.

For folks asking if they've made it *inside* a Home Depot yet as the business has clearly just continued letting agents do whatever they want in their lots, the answer is yes. This is from yesterday in Evanston.

Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.
I stood behind this for 2 hours (because it took that long for our part of the march to move!) with a group of my husband's actor friends, who commented on how a good set designer could've put this together. Chicago has a hell of a storefront theater scene!

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

This is so lovely! Having a positive experience during a peaceful protest boosts revenue and the profile of independent businesses and the local farmers market in downtown Portland.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.
Illinois also has them at CVS, including the pediatric vaccine, and they are available without prescription or insurance. Walk-ups available. It is *wild* that it we are back to the scramble and call-around to try and get vaccinated against a virus that so recently caused so much death.
Awesome! Glad it's sparking good conversation! I'm now a therapist and get to help people working with similar dynamics in many different kinds of workplaces. Its great to think that young people heading into their careers are thinking about these topics ahead of time!

4 out of 5 young people in the EU can have a conversation in a language other than their mother tongue.

In celebration of the 24 official EU languages, member states shared the joy of their languages with UK pupils at the @euinuk.bsky.social‘s #EuropeanDayofLanguages event.
I say this as a British person: can we at least all agree that the last thing Palestine needs is the British taking over again? Seeing as - let's be honest - we were the ones who created this whole problem in the first place?
