Can't agree with this more strongly – from creating jobs to training our brightest young scientists to laying the foundations for tomorrow's cures & research tools, NIH support for basic research has been the bedrock of U.S. biomedical science. It's too important to jeopardize –

Just received a NOA today for the renewal of the R35 MIRA grant that supports my lab. Parent grant ended 3/31 and this new one start Aug1--4 month delay and years off my life. Very relieved and grateful for NIH staff that made this happen!

Hard to argue with the data. HOW is this being done ie HOW exactly are POs being prevented from sending out NOAs? Including mine?

Has anyone heard from their PO about funding for a NIGMS R35 competitive renewal? Mine is listed as “pending administrative review “ but PO telling me NOTHING. Someone else heard unofficially from PO that their R35will be funded but 40% cut. WTF? I submitted 1 year ago. Just want to know SOMETHING

You are inspiring at so many levels! Thanks for your amazing talk at ASBMB meeting!
Thank you for the incredibly kind words, @amyjhawkins.bsky.social ♥️
I'm lucky to have found such wonderful community with my @asbmb.bsky.social colleagues.
Endlessly proud of @nikiwoitowich.bsky.social from
@nucatsinstitute.bsky.social. Her work shows we continue to have huge gaps in including women and even female animals in biomedical research. Her @asbmb.bsky.social Emerging Leadership Award is well deserved.

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

NIH, which began this week terminating projects studying long COVID, has reinstated the grants, after pressure from Sen. Todd Young's (R-IN) office, an HHS source tells me.

Young had secured a commitment from RFK Jr that he'd continue funding long COVID research.
