Watched tonight: The Nine Unch Nails 2, I mean, The Nun II by some director-for-hire, who cares. Stepping on a Lego is scarier than this lazily written, murkily photographed sequel slop. Two frail nuns physically fight an evil nun trapped inside an incredibly wooden actor while you fall asleep. 2/10

Watched tonight: Ministry of Fear by Fritz Lang. Another banger from Lang, I'm slowly discovering his oeuvre & I love every single movie from him so far. This is an early example of near flawless construction; also an interesting time capsule of a film, focusing on Britain during WW2. 8/10

Watched tonight: the new season of Monster, a show now full of piss and venom and contempt for its audience. Devoid of taste and class, the barrage of in-jokes and references might have sounded funny in the writers' room, but come across as deranged and obscene in the final product. Loved it. 8/10

Watched tonight: Underworld U.S.A. by Sam Fuller. You can clearly see how Fuller's style influenced subsequent film makers. This movie feels like a dad or grand dad to Taxi Driver, Pulp Fiction or even Coen Brothers stuff. Really pulled me in, this one, still entertaining af. 8/10

Watched tonight: Bad Moon by Eric Red. German Shepard fights werewolf uncle. The script is somewhat uneven & unimaginative, esp. given the interesting premise of telling story from the dog's perspective. Solid direction though, dynamic and driving score by the late great Daniel Licht. 6/10
