“What’s disturbing about the scandal though, is how blatant it is. Political appointees are handing out hundreds of millions of dollars from a public slush fund to organizations that are either close to the government or that hire the right political insiders.”

Star Editorial Board: Doug Ford’s latest scandal is almost too brazen to be believed
It suggests Ford has established a system where public money is being handed out not based on need or merit but on who you know or who you pay

Today is a shameful day for the Ford govt who passed Bill 33 despite public opposition and how much it hurts students, parents, and educators.

Ford and Calandra grabbed power for themselves and took away our democratic rights. Democracy is non-negotiable. Today, they treated it like nothing.

Working with the Swedes on building Gripen fighter jets looks better all the time.
BTW Pete could you tell us if you have any knowledge of the $500 Mil slush fund offered to Alberta separatists?

Past is prologue.

In 1933, during the Great Depression, a group of wealthy businessmen tried to overthrow the US government and install a fascist dictator to protect their own interests.

And everything that led to it feels way too familiar right now.

This is not a history lesson, it’s a warning.

Sometimes courage is big, but arrives in a small way.
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

Which is worse? The liar who lies or those choosing to believe whatever he says. I’d say it’s the latter group because the more outrageous the lies, the more his believers must contort themselves to keep on believing.
