The research is solid, the pacing keeps you watching, and there are just the right touches of wit. I especially smiled at the cartoons of Crowley as a monk and Neuburg as a little devil, which land the point without trivialising the material. ⬇️

It is a careful, engaging introduction to a story that is usually told in fragments and with a lot of noise, yet what truly makes it stand out is the attention given to Victor Neuburg. Too often, Neuburg is treated like a footnote to Crowley. ⬇️
