If anyone wants to be friends, my Trainer Code is 925539822326!
Funny thing is I do not have a clue about how Pokemon works. Never was a big fan of the franchise and was completely new to the game. But it has been so much fun catching Pokemon and learning about all of em

Now I’m tempted to watch the anime
So I started playing Pokemon GO and now that I’m back in Amsterdam, I just found out that my apartment has 3 poke stops and a gym within range.

It can’t get any better than this🤩
@globalcomix.com has partnered with @kodansha.us! Awesome news for manga fans!! I can only hope this partnership will signal more manga in the future.

Check out the article for more deets :)

As I said in this article, ultimately it is readers who will be the deciding factor.

Shouting online DOES NOT MATTER. What matters is DO YOU READ THE MANGA? DO YOU BUY IT?

If you read it on the app, you are voting for more. And more you shall receive.

Remember, if you are "curious" about the translation and give it a read on the Viz app?

That counts as a vote for further AI translations.

They do not care WHY you clicked on it. Only that you DID. So DON'T.

Only You Can Prevent AI Translations.
I hope all other manga fans will be able to share my opinion and let their voices be heard.

We cannot allow AI-translation to break into the biggest NA manga publisher and go even further. AI-translation has no place in manga.
To @viz.com and all other manga publishers: We do NOT want AI-translated manga. Respect translators, letterers, editors, and your READERS.

Translation, just like manga, is an ART. So treat it as such! Say NO to AI🚫
VIZ Media quietly added an AI-translated manga to their app and hoped no one would notice. We did.

Manga deserves better than cheap, soulless automation. This is a betrayal of translators, fans, and the art form.

We don't want your AI translations!

"I never thought I would be on the big stage...I want to thank the staff of The Beat. They are tireless...20 years old...a lot of people think it's just me but it's a lot of people."

Heidi MacDonald gets a much deserved award. Somewhere, Chip Zdarsky is very happy.
Love it or hate it, what Demon Slayer has accomplished is truly something no one could have ever predicted or believed possible. It is absolutely insane. With the highest average of copies sold per volume in history, KnY is one of, if not the most successful manga of all time.
TOP 10 BEST-SELLING WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP SERIES | Measured by copies in circulation

With the new circulation updates, Demon Slayer overtakes Slam Dunk and Kochikame! Jujutsu Kaisen joins the 100 million club, effectively joining the Top 10 and replacing MHA. Big numbers!!
I agree with Jerome in how CR "misunderstood the assignment" by flexing these strong numbers. But I wonder, just how much CR be able to tap into these numbers in the future? And just how much of an uncertainty and desperation undertone was revealed by CR during the presentation?
Investing in international co-production is a good alternative. Netflix has proven that already. The next step? Investing in international talent for source material (manga/comics/GNs). Why depend in a struggling Japan when there is plenty of existing talent overseas?
Manga publishers are struggling to put out attractive manga for anime adaptations. And when they do, it takes years to hit the screens due to the market saturation (thanks Kadokawa). Japan is shooting themselves in the foot because they can't keep up with themselves already.
Japan wants to increase the output of anime/manga for overseas to consume with a declining number of workers. That's wishful thinking. It's impossible. The mystification of anime as a medium can't be upheld with worsening industry conditions and increasing global demand.
CR will eventually fade away sticking to their exclusively Japan-made anime for the anime-only fan as Netflix + other streaming giants take over the mainstream. The barrier to entry of anime is lower in Netflix than in CR, even more so with attractive international co-productions
The numbers presented are mindblowing, but I wonder just how much of them will CR tap into the future? People are not *just* anime fans, but CR seems to only appeal to "anime-onlys". Netflix is doing a better job with casuals, especially with the international co-productions
Watching the 40-minute presentation unfold, one can't help but feel that Crunchyroll fundamentally misunderstood the assignment.

Going back to Peru tomorrow and have downloaded MHA: Vigilantes and To Be Hero X to watch on the plane. Might need a back-up anime in case I get bored (12hr+ flight), so any reccs are appreciated!
The sole existence of MAL is a product of people's mass reading habits. We want to keep track of it all! So why not redirect some of that energy into their pockets?

If people saw the option to buy a manga when they search it on MAL, I bet some will actually buy it.

MAL has its own Manga Store, but I doubt many know about it. And if they do, I doubt they make use of it. It's not displayed on their homepage. Instead, you have to hover over the Manga tab and then, in the dropdown, you'll see the Manga Store, hardly noticeable vs other stuff
