One of the guys in the local Buddhist group I went to years ago was essentially starving himself. It was a weird blend of ascetisism and a desire to extend his life based on experiments that calorie limited mice live longer. Looked like an eating disorder to me.

Assata Shakur's story, Marian Jones writes in @teenvogue.com, is "also a reminder of the impact of COINTELPRO, and how it continues to impact activists today through technological surveillance, the criminalization of protest, and the targeting of dissidents." Shakur passed in Cuba on Friday.
Assata Shakur Was a Black Revolutionary Who Fought for Freedom Even in Exile
“Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them.”

Owamni moving to Guthrie Theatre in Spring 2026. I hope you can still walk in to eat like on the patio in the current location. Not going up very much to MSP but went often when I could. I hear the view from the theatre is great.

Sounds like what happened at Hyundai ICE raid but even worse. Limited warrant used as excuse for arresting everyone. Also pretty clear Venezuelans are the ones they are using to open the door. I would not be suprised to see Haitians attacked like this next.

My god.

“Watson said she saw agents dragging residents, including kids, out of the building without any clothes on and into U-Haul vans. Kids were separated from their mothers…’It was heartbreaking to watch…seeing kids coming out buck naked and taken from their mothers, it was horrible.’”

Afternoon task: process on of @manetooleefa.bsky.social’s Cushaw squashes from Johnson county’s poor farm plot. This one is almost 7 lbs.
I will cut it up, roast it in olive oil. The portion we will eat tonight will get tossed with some sage from the garden too.
A Cushaw squash on a cutting board. The squash has a round body and a long neck, and is bicolored, alternating dark and light green stripes.

From Oglala Lakota poet Layli Long Soldier’s poem ‘Diction,’ a fragmented account of the massacre at Wounded Knee that communicates the immeasurable loss.
A poem with staggered, right-aligned text. The layout creates a visual flow, with individual words and phrases emphasizing reflection and contemplation.

Is Rep. Miller Meeks trolling me. I wrote her as a constituent and now am on her mailing list. I think she won by six votes in the last election and she just sent me an email about the Biden administration censoring free speech. Who is president now & going whole hog on censorship?

It actually requires "tribalism" and living in a world of relationality not the hierarchical individualist bs that Europe adopted and forced on the rest of the world.
