Awesome resource from #NYCC. These are comic books for Social Studies and Civics in tons of grade levels and units.

They were giving out free printed copies but they said all the comic books are free in their digital library for all. So check it out.

Note to self: When an audiobook is so popular that the library's wait-list is 27 weeks, but can you remember that you have Spotify premium and get 15 hours of audiobooks a month. #Audiobook

Books should open minds, not close them. Yes, some content isn’t for every age but banning books altogether? That’s not protection, that’s censorship.

"The villain, Gwi-ma, doesn’t attack with weapons, but with whispers of shame: You’re not enough. You don’t belong. The turning point? Rumi shows what she’s been hiding - and instead of rejection, her friends pull her closer."

Dr. Becky on Instagram: "Last weekend, I watched KPop Demon Hunters with my kids. At first, it felt like one of those “sit back and enjoy the ride” movies. But a few minutes in, I realized it was about something much deeper. Rumi, the main character, hides glowing patterns on her arms - proof she’s “part demon.” Beneath her stardom, she fears this part makes her unlovable, unworthy, unsafe. So she hides it. That’s shame in its truest form: the fear that a part of us makes us unconnectable to others. The villain, Gwi-ma, doesn’t attack with weapons, but with whispers of shame: You’re not enough. You don’t belong. The turning point? Rumi shows what she’s been hiding - and instead of rejection, her friends pull her closer. Maybe that’s why kids (and adults!) are connecting so deeply. Yes, the movie is beautiful and the music is fun — but really, it’s about the dream every kid carries: Can I show all of myself and still be loved? As parents, this is where we get to take the story off the screen and into real life. Not with lectures or big “talks,” but with small moments of wondering out loud. Pausing the movie to ask questions, or even just reminding our kids in everyday moments: There’s nothing you could tell me that would make me love you less. If you’re not sure of the age-appropriate of the movie for your child, my suggestion is to watch the movie yourself first (you’ll get something out of it as an adult!) to figure out if it’s something you want to watch with your kid. You know your family best. The themes in this movie are too good to leave on the screen. So I wrote down the best moments to pause, the questions to ask, and the sparks to look for. It’s in the Good Inside library now. Members - it’s waiting for you! And if you’re not a member yet, this is just one of the kinds of tools we love creating for parents. 💛 I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie, so please share below!"

I'm looking at the schedule for #NYCC and just wanted to check if @historycomics.bsky.social has any panels Thursday. There are some great looking panels this year. I plan to go to at least two between touring the expo.

No spoilers but the memories in #DowntonAbbey, I forgot how long ago the first episode was. They were all so young. It really is like we grew up with them.
And a beautiful tribute to the late Dame Maggie Smith.

I grew up in New York, about 35 miles from the Twin Towers. On September 11th, we could see the smoke from our town on Long Island. Even now, 24 years later, the memories of that day remain vivid. We still carry the weight of that day and honor the friends and family we lost. #September11th

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer. However, it's more than just a celebration of summer. In 1894, Congress passed an act to declare the first Monday in September as Labor Day, with President Grover Cleveland signing it into law. Honoring those that literally built this country.

ALWAYS check policies at stores. I just got $20 back on something I bought last month. I was looking up an accessory when I saw the price dropped. The store has a 30-day price adjustment policy so I went back. Less than 10 minutes and they refunded my credit card the difference. Woot Woot!

One of my sayings in education is FAIL: First Attempt In Learning. So this quote from Richard Branson makes a lot of sense. You can't learn and grow if you've never struggled.

#MondayMotivation #FailForward
Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.

Perhaps your route just got redirected and it might take longer and further to get there, but guess what... You're still on track.

#GoogleMaps #GettingLost #MondayMotivation
Google Maps doesn't say, "Hey, you're going the wrong way!" when you take a wrong turn.

It simply adjusts your route and tells you the next turn you should take.

Remember when Dollar Tree used to joke about price checking since everything was $1. Not anymore. First everything went up to $1.25 and now it depends on the item.
