With that volume, do some emails sent to ANN get missed?

A month ago I pitched some articles, following the FAQ guidelines, and only got what looked like a automated noreply response, and I haven't been sure if I should follow up or not (It's possible/understandable y'all just weren't interested!)

For this Halloween, I drew Not-Camazotz. 🦇

I wanted to draw my take on this as a way to get back to work on my Mesoamerican fantasy project. This is an update to an older sketch I drew.

I would like to point out that even if much of the Americas in EU5 isn't pop-less, just state-less, that's not necessarily correct.

For example, the only listed/state playable Mississippian polity is around Cahokia, when there should be dozens of others across the Eastern US at the time.
Please increase the character limit and image resolution limit, this is by far the main obstacle I have to using bluesky regularly, I would even happily pay for something that gives me, say, a 4000 character limit rather then the 250 it is now

It's impossible to be detailed or nuanced currently
Due to the character limit here, I wouldn't get your hopes up of me posting frequently, keep in mind.
Aaaand I'm suspended there again! 😅
Hello, I do posts on Mesoamerican history and archeology, and I was wondering if we could speak over DMs regarding potential photo usage permissions/licensing of your photos of this?

I'd really love to potentially get them up on Wikimedia, in particular, and i'd be happy to compensate you for that!
How do they handle the Copyright of their documentation efforts?
I think in practice we've seen that Twitter, Bluesky, etc isn't used for "microblogging", it's replaced forums and message boards as a major communication and new sharing ecosystem. It's frankly irresponsible to manage them yet design them in a way structurally enabling of toxicity and reductiveness
I don't think "the purpose of the site is to force people to remove nuance, overgeneralize, and be inflammatory" is a good sell

Encouraging people to be concise is one thing, but 300 characters is just not enough to talk about things beyond a millimeter of depth. I even already hit the limit here!
Please offer a method to have an extended character limit, 300 characters is not enough to be nuanced when discussing complex topics

Also, increase the image resolution limit!

I will note though that the Mesoamericans and Andeans did have some contact which wasn't totally diluted by being so indirect, in that there was trade between Ecuador and West Mexico via coastal naval routes
An image I like to use when trying to explain that Mesoamerica and the Andes were separate largely unrelated regions
If you'd be comfortable having your photos available with a CC BY or CC BY-SA license, you should consider uploading them to Wikimedia

I do posts on Mesoamerican history/archeology, work with Youtubers etc and having more material that's usable is always very helpful, especially CC BY images
As someone who keeps up with Mesoamerican history/archeology, most researchers didn't think the Spanish made the skull rack up, they thought they exaggerated it's size

And they did: The excavated rack had ~16,000 skulls vs Duran claiming it had 80,000 or Andres de Tapia claiming it held 136,000
@noghiri.bsky.social Hey, I do posts on Mesoamerican history and archeology and i'd like to reply to your post here: bsky.app/profile/nogh...

Any chance you could tag or follow me so I'm able to do so?
this is cursed, there's a reason the peoples under the aztecs were willing to help Spain out and it wasn't naivete
"Sapiens" is so normal for the first 70,000 years of human history but then goes absolutely buckwild as soon as it gets to colonialism

...would you happen to know more about that/this?

I wasn't expecting it to be as vibrant as the 1:1 replica at the site museum, but I thought it was as bright still as the Margherita phase structures?
I saw this recently and was confused by how dull the paint on the Rosalila was, I was under the impression that the paint was almost entirely intact and vibrant?

Someone else told me that Copan's denizens covered it with stucco when building over it, though that contradicts what I thought too...
I have long considered making a blog or a Youtube channel (well, I have one, even partner status, but I don't use it), but so far I haven't done so

This is making me really consider starting one.
...the @support account, explaining that I did great educational posts, got erroneously suspended, and that Twitter support should unsuspend my account, both so people know what happened and in case that helps with my appeal.
I was suspended on Twitter for, I think, replying to so many people about Apocalypto and linking my breakdown post about it 😅

Would appreciate it if those who feel comfortable doing so, still use Twitter, and have followers there who also follow me, tweeting out about this while also tagging...
Hey, could you shoot me a message, assuming this is the same wikiooc as on Twitter?
That doesn't change the quote being bad

Nintendo, Sony, etc are still responsible for the status quo where consumers can't just buy old games in stores because they sued and lobbied against emulation being normalized

This has been in the making for a while, and it's coming soon:

An interactive 3D viewer for my virtual reconstruction of Tenochtitlan, right in your browser.

More details to follow. Stay tuned!

I imagine you have less then zero interest in Fortnite (as do I), but you absolutely, 100% have to watch the trailer they did for the Power Rangers collab

They used actual Tokusatsu style suits in live action with the same sort of effects and really, really slick coregraphy. It's incredible
