Just did another interview. I hate having to give a candidate a 'no' for weak technicals but also that's the entire point of me doing my thing. It's been a while since I've seen a "low-mid" developer, come to think of it. It's been pretty bimodal between "strong engineer" and "does not know SWE".

I guess the point is that "the line" is a subjective and personal thing for everyone based on their entire life's sensibilities, and trying to split hairs about where it lies when it comes to fiction is a -personal- journey.
