Against my better judgement I decided to try a new-to-me American SF series. There are five main characters: a Russian, a Chinese, an English, an American, and an Indian.
Who do you think were the neutral-to-good characters (perhaps a bit lame), the main/hero guy, and the apparently bad guys?

And I now have some outsiders in the Meadow Farm tenancy race… The Grundys! Very very long odds, but if they all clubbed together…? Perhaps with a bit of help from Oliver, or Will selling up? The more I think, the longer the odds get I admit. But it’s a thought!!

I love that my friend’s wonderful novel, Winter on the Plain of Ghosts by Eileen Kernaghan, is mentioned on a website devoted to the Indus Valley, where the book is set. I love all of Eileen’s books, but this is my favourite.

Winter on the Plain of Ghosts is an epic story of sorcery, religious conflict, political intrigue and ecological disaster in the lost cities of the Indus Valley.

@essythorn.bsky.social So funny! I just discovered I already published it under a different name. But I like enough to leave them both — unless you want me to take one of them down. (So confusing!)

@sarahmaintains.bsky.social Hi, Sarah. Would you be willing to let me post your brilliant poem "A Prayer to St Bridget” on my blog? Here is a link to it: stonebelly.blogspot.com (Sorry for the abrupt message. I feel more awkward even than usual asking permission, since it’s “in public.”)

Well! Somehow with the 1 million tabs I had open on the iPad I lost the recipe I was going to use. I wanted to watch that video one more time! Nevertheless, I farmered on and made my very first soda bread. It's not perfect visually, but it looks (and smells) yummy. Now, a few minutes for it to cool.

Watching a few DS9 before Netflix kills the series. It’s so good. I’m really sorry to have it go.

I am 100% right eyebrowed. If only I could do with my left eyebrow what I can do with my right! It’s like there’s a tractor beam on my left eyebrow, but my right eyebrow can dance through space!

The story of Facebook.
Corey Doctorow explains how social media starts out being great, but then locks in users, then locks in advertisers, and then screws both over in favour of shareholders.

Enshittification is the word he invented to describe this.

I love the invertebrate feed because I get to see wonderful pictures of bees and spiders and moths and all kinds of things. But I find it distressing when I see an insect or spider killed and used for art. Luckily, there aren’t too many of those on the feed.

Saw a nice cardigan in a shop window so I went in to have a look.

$565.

You can imagine how toney they thought I was when my response was, “Holy shit! Well, that’s not going to happen!”

Sadly, Netflix is dumping all of the Star Trek series except for one. Happily, the one series that it’s not dumping is my favourite: Voyager.

I used to be a Crisis volunteer. It was, indeed, a massive logistical undertaking. It was also where I learned to roll ciggies - decades before vapes, hundreds per day were handed out, rolled in our down time!
Ever wondered what it takes to put on Crisis at Christmas?

This year, we’re preparing to support over 5,500 people experiencing homelessness and we couldn’t do it without you. If you’re able, please give what you can today: https://bit.ly/4iSBFtd

When did paper get so brittle? When I tear up paper to use the backside for notes it tears weirdly now. How has the process changed, I wonder?
