I'd never heard of Wetlands before, a 1995 DOS game from New World Computing, who were most famous for the Might & Magic games. Here, they're turning their hand to publishing Hypnotix's Wetlands, a cinematic game with a style similar to Fear Effect.

A cool two page ad for Wetlands from Hypnotix, with a cel-shaded(ish) guy holding a gun in the bottom left corner and a ton of game screenshots zigzagging down the page that make it look like a very cool game.

...childhood characters being turned into horror villains.

Which is why I went in wanting to hate this game.

But... having played it... I don't hate it.

It's silly, verging on ridiculous, yet it's a stalker villain, just like Nemesis or Jack Baker.

It's actually quite good fun, in a weird... 2/3

It's called Choo Choo Charles.

If asked to quickly describe it, I'd say it's a simple Survival Horror game, whose main antagonist is a demonic half-locomotive, half-spider creature.

It's clear that this monster was based on Thomas the Tank Engine, & I tend to take a dim view of beloved... 1/3

...that I went in wanting to hate it.

That said, I did see a YouTube video of the game where some joker had given Charles a voice, and I found myself wishing for a Mod where Charles says "Choo Choo" in a demonic voice whenever he started to pursue you. 😅

I guess life can be funny sometimes.

I mean... like I said, the Resident Evil's & Silent Hill's of this world have nothing to fear from it.

It's quite simplistic compared to those franchises.

But... for a simple, quick survival horror blast... I found it to be quite good fun.

Which is... I suppose a bit odd when you consider... 1/2
