Last week our local humane society took in 28 cats from a woman who had gotten in over her head with too many litters. They require a lot of care to get them healthy and adoptable - please consider a donation if you can! www.hsccvt.org/donate

"Amazon’s automation team expects the company can avoid hiring more than 160,000 people in the United States it would otherwise need by 2027. That would save about 30 cents on each item that Amazon picks, packs and delivers to customers."

It’s been a busy year at EPA. Especially for lobbyists who previously lobbied on behalf of industy. One advocating for continued use of a contentious weedkiller called dicamba is now in charge of pesticides policy. @hirokotabuchi.bsky.social messaging-custom-newsletters.nytimes.com/dynamic/rend...

No wonder the fossil fuel oligarchs want more warming. ⅓ of the US economy's growth is now devoted to global warming/disaster mitigation. I guess making the other ⅓ AI waste heat farms just helps that growth along.

And regulating regulatory bodies? We know where that is aimed. Absolutely anti-democratic. All of it.

At long last, our book "Don't Collect the Deadly Wallpaper" collects the beloved deadly wallpaper.
Shadows from the Walls of Death (1874) gathers real swaths of poisonous arsenic wallpaper sourced from stores across Michigan. Originally printed in a run of 100 copies, only 6 remain due to recipients fearfully destroying their copies: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/kedzie-shadows

This fucking covid appointment thing is exactly the same as the election bullshit. Make things as difficult as possible. Why the fuck do you even have an option button for 2+ people if you have to book separately.

As U of C health law prof Lorian Hardcastle told me, the UCP could have fixed the alleged waste/logistical issue and no matter what it cost, it would still be more cost effective than treating a flood of unvaccinated or less than fully vaccinated patients in hospitals.
The UCP's rationale for limiting access to publicly funded vaccines was waste, especially at pharmacies. 700+ pharmacies in Alberta are now selling vaccines but they also administer vaccines for free to eligible people. What happened to the waste issue? How does the UCP explain this?

Nothing says “ima huge wanker and don’t care about anything other than myself” when you park your black tinted-window Range Rover in front of the coffee shoppe with two of the 4 wheels resting comfortably on top of the curb.
