Yes, Pete Hegseth and Michael Waltz violated all sorts of national security protocols by sharing military secrets with a journalist. But at least they were White when they did this.

Elon Musk’s staffers are still attempting to manipulate the Treasury payment system to halt the flow of funds following their recent losses. Reminder: U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has restricted DOGE’s read-only access. No one is above the law.

I read a quote somewhere that “Artists are our emotions first responders.” Lindsay Rush is such a one—she writes poems based on News Headlines people send her. This is her take on Rebecca Shaw’s headline in The Guardian:

I can see it now. First you build hotels in Gaza. Then of course you go to the Ukraine. Find nothing but the best land and rebuild. ..

You can train the staff at Mar a Lago ....

Why aren’t we looking into corporate welfare? In the United States, it costs taxpayers billions each year, with estimates ranging from $92 billion to $100 billion annually. Meanwhile, USAID costs only $40 billion. Hmmm… doesn’t add up.

Trump's promise to dismantle the Education Department will likely be more costly for red states than blue.

Trump states, on average, use more federal funding in their education apportions than states that voted for Vice President Harris. www.axios.com/2025/02/05/t...

“If your bank failed, you lost any savings you had there. Politicians and even bankers in the 20th century wanted to end the cycle of devastating depressions, which is why we have so many financial regulations today.

The Trump administration wants to roll back as many regulations as they can…”

Approximately 20 members of Elon Musk’s staff have begun working within the Education Department. They have gained access to multiple sensitive internal systems, including a financial aid dataset containing the personal information of millions of students enrolled in the federal student aid program.

The world’s richest man who no one elected just walked into the US Treasury, stole your Social Security number, and Trump let him. You deserve to know why this is happening - call your member of Congress and Senators (202) 224-3121 and ask why.

Today’s pairing features the same cheese+crackers as yesterday but with a much more knitting-friendly New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that still tastes good even after being opened a few days ago. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go to NZ myself to pick it out but rather down the highway to Costco again🧶🍷

Yesterday’s wine pairing: A lovely Malbec with English Country Cheddar and crackers from Costco as well as gorgeous teal yarn that is not from Costco.
Yeah I normally pair white wine with knitting but we’re living dangerously here… 🧶🍷

Weird knitting pet peeve of the day: When a little fray on your fingernail keeps catching your yarn so you trim it and file it like 3 times, but you just seem to be making it worse 🤦🏻‍♀️
