The Trump admin & Big Tech are trying to get rid of state-level AI laws.

This could lead to a massive rollback of bipartisan efforts that protect people from some of the most obvious harms of AI.

State lawmakers across the country are fighting to stop federal preemption.

At @prospect.org we wanted to do something different about affordability. Instead of why this good or that service is unaffordable, we wanted to understand the drivers of the cost of living: physically, technologically, even culturally.
So we did a whole issue about it.

People can change this, but It takes political will. ⬇️ We need more Congress members like Sean Casten, We need fairer lobbying / campaign finance laws that stop polluting industries from lining their pockets while workers lose out — and our air and water are polluted.

3. That, in a nutshell is the history of Appalachian coal mining towns. First the steam shovel, then long-wall mining, then fracking, now renewables. Every one of those innovations shifted wealth from labor to capital and/or from labor to energy consumers.

1. More recess. US students get hardly any outdoor recess now. (We had 2-3 recesses per day)
2. Less homework. Dutch kids do fine without homework until they're older
3. More nutritious food, longer lunch times
4. Less screens in classroom
5. Stop with amplified music in PE class, overstimulating

In two years, Israel has killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Every day, settlers attack Palestinian villages. Netanyahu & his extremist allies have one goal: annexation by force. The U.S. has enabled them.

Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.
