I haven't been on Bluesky for a while because I don't have the capacity to maintain accounts on here & on X

I've recently started writing blogs about what Labour have done & are still planning to do to chronically ill & disabled welfare claimants

McFadden misleads The Telegraph

"Last thing we want to do is assess a snapshot...assess once & that’s the end of it”

Wrong! The WCA is a RIGOUROUS & REPEATED process

"Youngsters mustn't be abandoned on sickness benefits"

Wrong! Only 73,685 under 22s receive sickness benefits (1.6%)

🚨UN Special Rapporteur slams UK Gov over #UCHealth & #disabilitybenefits👇🏼

Gov must respond truthfully—unlike past lies to UN—esp. as #LCW #LCWRA #ESA face axe in #AutumnWhitePaper

Read/share urgently. Lives depend on it.

Most disability advocates are disabled people themselves.
They are struggling whilst trying to advocate for themselves and for others.

It’s okay to have time off, and disabled people shouldn’t bear the sole responsibility for fighting for survival in an ableist society.

As someone who has lived with health conditions for a long time, I can honestly say that, for me, false hope and "optimism" is far worse than simple honesty - even if that honesty is "There's nothing we can do"

Getting your hopes up only to have them dashed is soul destroying

Disabled people who cannot work already receive less than what is considered a survival amount of money in benefits in the UK.

Yet it seems many think even this is “too much”.

Because they are disgusting ghouls who want us dead.

I am fearful & feel sick to my stomach Every Single Day because the community I'm part of is ALONE

At least when the Tories were in power Labour pretended to care & fought back

Many of us see where this is heading: ESA 2.0

Help us or a lot of us will die

OPPOSE AUTUMN WHITE PAPER 🧵

Whilst the WCA urgently needs reforming, the Substantial Risk qualification route allows someone to qualify for protection from work activity requirements when it would cause significant risk, even if they don't meet the functional criteria of the WCA.

There's no equivalent in DL PIP

🚨 Labour want to scrap the Work Capability Assessment & make Daily Living PIP the gateway

DWP FOI: 584,000 LCW/LCWRA/ESA claimants tried & failed to qualify for Daily Living PIP

A further 500,000 have never tried to qualify for DL PIP so are also at risk

OPPOSE AUTUMN WHITE PAPER!

#CareNotCuts
🚨New DWP FOI

LCW/LCWRA/ESA Substantial Risk cohort are less likely to be in receipt of DL PIP & have a higher DL PIP qualification failure rate

50.3% are not in receipt of DL PIP Vs 36% of all 'Health Element'

29.6% tried & failed to qualify for DL PIP Vs 23% of all 'Health Element'

Campaigners have warned that nearly 600,000 disabled people could be at risk from the next round of the government’s welfare reforms.

The figures relate to the DWP's plans to abolish the Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
