An explanation of how Twitch's new lurker/viewbot algo actually works.

Basically, people who use ad blockers and people who open an undisclosed number of Twitch windows at once are being assumed to be viewbots.

So being a lurker is still important, but now you can't do too much of it at once.

There have been a lot of theories about Twitch viewership and what Twitch is (or isn't) counting as a result of the view bot update.

I was planning to #stream today, but I’m not entirely sure if I will.

I think it means the IP address of the device not the internet itself. For example, if you have 4 tabs on one devices those won't count but if you have 1 stream on 4 different devices then they would.

Not entirely sure if that's the case though so what you said might be true as well. 🤷

Not a fix, but we got something from #Twitch about the view count issues.

TLDR, watching in a 3rd party extension and having more than 2 streams up at once does not count you as a viewer.

More problems still need to be addressed, but it’s something.

Great breakdown! TLDR:
- Don't use third party apps to watch Twitch streams
- Don't watch more than 2-3 streams at a time

Both of these things look like viewbotting to Twitch, so your view will count NOWHERE if you do this!
