Today I played the Confidential Killings demo. You must collect clues from crime scenes and then solve the case using keywords.

I enjoyed the first three cases in the demo. If you like crime fiction, you have to play it.

I don't think you would disappoint anyone: just be honest about your strength and weaknesses, plus work on a short project. Game jams are good for that.
If you keep the scope reasonable and work with the right people, there won't be any issues.
