The extremely elusive ruin of St Patrick’s Chapel, behind the shore north of Gullane in East Lothian. It was in use in the early 16th century but was subsequently inundated by sand until excavated in the early 20th century. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

I took part in the church recording project at Whitekirk Church last Friday. When we were encouraged to take ten minutes to contemplate and draw a feature of the church I chose the font and the window behind it which both feature the descending dove motif.

Dirleton Church in East Lothian was built in 1612 to replace the church in Gullane which was thought to be too exposed to sand blowing up from the beach. The pinnacles were added to the tower in 1836. #steeplesaturday
