I have to agree with this. Any conflict that outwardly "looks violent" __WILL__ be used by the right as video clips to justify further crack downs and degradation of our freedoms.

You need to protest... and deny them anything that can be used against us.

I dunno why, but a big thing with me and TF is that it is always involuntary... I fantasize about some big drama of it accidentally or forcefully happening, either as something that saved me from death, or as a necessity to save others from harm.

Something about it being a wish granted taints it.🙄

I can't deny that it seems a lot "easier" these days... I can't deny that some people probably need more scrutiny than perhaps they receive....

...and yet it doesn't change what I said. It's not a game... it's your life. You make choices, even as a teen... you live with the consequence.

.. alas, I am amused that somehow people cycling and suffering a permanent and debilitating injury gets a total pass...
you never hear a twenty or thirty year old whine about how if they JUST made bicycles harder to get...

That you should only be allowed to bicycle if you're over 18. 🤨

I don't buy into the notion that only at age 18 do you get to have some f*ing magical light switch flipped on the back of your neck and *POOF!* You're an adult!

You don't get to retcon your responsibility to yourself!
Even as a 14 year old...... you play life's game, you accept consequence.

I've no sympathy for someone that in 8 years can't make up their mind, gets upsetted, no- not at themselves, but rather everyone else.
And of course is then justified in taking the rights of others to carry out what they feel they must.

I am very dubious of this, and tend to believe that androgens were taken, or some other complicating issue was at play, or that more time was needed for the belated puberty to take place.

In any case, this was cause enough for him to believe that one must be 18 or older to receive care.

Spoke with a conservative minded friend today and we got on the topic of hormone blockers for minors wanting to transition.

He said he has a friend who was f2m and started as an early teen on hormone blockers... and at age 22 decided against it, but supposedly was rendered sterile. (more)

Increasingly I look around myself and I see a world (or at least the USA) that is consumed by "being successful" (meaning wealthy, materialistic and or vainglorious)

I can make money... I can make things... but I can't make time.

And when I'm gone, who the f*k is going to care, anyway??

Just read an article in Fortune indicating a 60hr work week is what's required for success in creating new and innovative things. That having a work-life balance is unrealistic.

I can't help but feel that to be sad, unless you are truly someone driven exclusively by being "successful".

So ... I finally made a doctors appointment.
Its been about two years of a steady decline of energy, and mood, coupled with problems with muscles and joints.

I already have no desire to search for new doctors.. recent court cases have made it necessary seek "specialized" care.

Because.. religion.

What is "plenary authority" and why is it a big deal that Miller said that Trump has it over the national guard?

A few hours ago, speaking on cnn about Trump's plan to send the national guard into us cities, Miller said : under title 10 of the us code, the president has plenary authority, has... He then fully stopped talking and just blinked at the camera, as if he realized that he said the quiet part out loud. "Plenary authority" means "complete power over a particular area with no limitayions". It is equivalent to ruling by decree, which us how Mussolini, Stalin or Hitler governed. Having "plenary authority" over the military would mean that Trump can just use the national guard as he pleases, no matter what the courts say. It's a power grab.

Why? If you think for a moment... there is no way that the GOP could be planning to play fair in the next election.

There's been so much blatant corruption, the only conclusion one can draw is that they feel no risk of consequence.

ER doc here! This is a lie. Wait times are up because the American healthcare system is an unsustainable business model and a for-profit national healthcare system just doesn’t work. These problems will continue to get worse until we change that system. It literally has nothing to do with immigrants

I find it interesting that tRump is trying to shut down government reporting of employment and economic data.

Meanwhile companies like ADP are providing economic data and conducting research.

What this means:
Investing is becoming increasingly pay to play and even MORE an "insider's game"
