So much color in the garden after the rain.

Refugee from X. Still committed after 30+ years to public health and social justice at bmsg.org but more and more turning to art, my first love, to give my brain a rest. Guess I’ll mix it up here and see how it goes.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

"Meche" works making raisins in Fresno CA. Fresh grapes are placed on sheets of paper and then laid on the sand between rows. The suns heats the sand and dries out the grapes. She can feel the heat from the sand through her shoes while she earns 35 cents for each sheet. #WeFeedYou

"Yoli" is hard at work harvesting wine grapes in CAs Central Valley. She shares they work in teams of three, with two people picking the grapes and one person packing them. The grapes are packed in boxes to protect them during transport. #WeFeedYou

I love my neighborhood.
3 handwritten lawn signs in a neighbor’s yard that say “Trump Putin Netanyahu you should be ashamed!” “Stay sane brave and kind” and “Never give up”

“Jose” is harvesting pears in VA. Minimum wage is just over $12 but these workers get paid for each container they can fill. “Jose” climbs up and down a ladder carrying 40 pounds of fruit at a time. #WeFeedYou

CA Central Coast workers are harvesting peas. They're paid piece rate. On this day, they began at 7am & were still working at 5pm. A worker shared in order not to use time taking bathroom breaks they try to drink less, so they have the opportunity to harvest more. #WeFeedYou

"We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job. Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent." —Justice Sonia Sotomayor

We wanted to draw attention to an issue affecting Menomonie, Wisconsin. A proposed $1.6 billion data center on 320 acres of farmland (located between 650th and 690th Avenue) has drawn strong opposition. The City Council quickly annexed and rezoned the land to “Restricted Industrial,”

This fork lift driver in Arvin CA does not have an enclosed cab as he came out of the vineyards at 11am and it was 93°. Even the steering wheel was too hot to handle in the open sun. #WeFeedYou #Calor

This tractor driver in NorCal is calling it a day from preparing the soil for the next planting. Grape orchards can yield for 30 years before needing to be pulled and replanted but often wine grape plants will be replanted more often to keep the grape quality. #WeFeedYou

"Anita", a UFW member, leaves the vineyard after an evening of harvesting wine grapes. "I am thankful that we are able to make good wages to support our family. Best of all I will get home before my kids wake up and will to be able to take them to school." #WeFeedYou

San Joaquin Valley onion workers do intense labor in hot conditions. They fill 20lb buckets, dump them into sacks and line the sacks up at the end of the day. Sacks weigh up to 80lbs when full. "Juan" says his back hurts from being bent over by the end of the day. #WeFeedYou

Look at this graph.

The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened.

This is why we must build back union power.

From 2019-2024, Lowe's spent $46.6 BILLION on stock buybacks.

That's enough to give each of its 273k employees a $28k bonus for the next six years.

Instead, it paid its CEO 659x what it paid median employees.

And we STILL think corporate tax breaks will magically trickle down?
