Have you read anything by Edmund Crispin? His detective novels have a waspish humour which you might enjoy.

I ran a yearly trip to Paris for 6th form and still have anxiety dreams 17 years later. Mostly fun but: arsey museum staff; food poisoning; pickpockets; kids sneaking off to a club; drunk pupil; overenthusiastic shop security - were some of the challenges

Yeah - I met John, Val and Peter - and the lady who did the “here’s one I made earlier” stuff - at which the scales fell from my eyes

For all his reputation as an arty-farty musician Eno often demonstrates a keen sense of commercial opportunities - creating Music for Films as an extra income stream for example.

A rumor has it that it's getting late
Time marches on, just can't wait
The clock keeps turning, why hesitate?
You silly fool; you can't change your fate

Thomas Dugdale Cantrell's 'The Arrival of the Jarrow Marchers in London,' (1936) depicts the 200 unemployed men who completed a near 300 mile walk to London to protest against the poverty suffered in Jarrow following the closure of its shipyard; the juxtaposition of society.

Rattle & Hum by U2, which I bought because of a rave review in NME which I have subsequently learned was substituted by the editor for the original, much more critical response from @dubdobdee.bsky.social

Today's example of Mesopotamian pith (i.e. small words that stand for complicated ideas): the Hurrian (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurrians) word "abi," which Emmanuel Laroche's handy GLOSSAIRE DE LA LANGUE HOURRITE informs us means "a hole dug in the ground to communicate with the infernal powers."
