Yesterday Venezuelan activist Yendri Velásquez and Luis Peche Arteagua suffered an attempt on their lives by gunmen in Bogotá. They survived with minimal injuries and i was able to contact Luis through private messages on X.

This is the reality of Venezuelan activists now.

I can see, i would argue if there was one prize that (despite blatant mistakes in the process) would transform over time it would be the Peace Prize. There is a well established causal relation between Peace and Democracy and thats what is being fought in my country.

How is standing against a tyranny not a step on at least 2 of those goals? How is an entire country represented by a leader fighting against being hostage of a group of thought not promote fraternity between nations as Venezuela has become a real threat to democracy in the hemisphere?

My differences with María Corina Machado throughout the years have always been very public but I will be on the side of anybody fighting for Venezuela against tyranny and she, and Venezuela, absolutely deserve it.
