In her biography of Jacob, published by UCD Press, Dr Leeann Lane (@lloislanel.bsky.social) considers the legacy of this fringe figure.

A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual

Brid Duggan sister of Peg , Annie and Sarah. Brid was a national school teacher near her home in Blackpool Cork. Unlike her three sisters she was a staunch supporter of De Valera she had a photo of him displayed prominently at her home on Cathedral Street.

Back in 2021 after some searching found the grave of May and Lil Conlon at Kilcrea Friary Cork. Lil's book "Cumann na mBan and the women of Ireland " is well worth reading. Great information on the War of Independence in the Cork area.

Really excited to share this front cover draft of my latest book (co-written with Alan Tate) due out in November on Lemon's Pure Sweets. Lemon's used to have a slogan, "You cannot eat a better sweet". This Christmas you cannot get a more beautiful book, full of wonderful images.

Dylan’s Desolation Row from start to finish on the @johncreedon.bsky.social show. How amazing. Reminds me of a night long ago in Gorbys, Cork when the DJ played Hurricane from start to finish which was joyous and I still remember.

“Back in Leinster House, the talk returned to Hermès bags. Did you know that you can’t just buy one? And that there are quota and non-quota bags and starter bags and list systems and even then you might have to take whatever bag which could cost tens of thousands is offered.

Not very democratic.”
