I know they never forgave me. But I also know I cared more and better than many others did. I hope I did something ok somewhere. If Black queer people are adultified as teens I will hold myself to an adult standard too & know full well that I failed.

I’m not offended that they’re trying to remake “Amadeus.” I’m just puzzled. That movie is flawless. It’s as re-watchable as it gets. How do you even improve that?

Anyway, I'll pay attention when they do a rent cap at 3% or less (votes on that keep failing in LA City), or another rent freeze, which after COVID they told people they had to pay back rent on.

This just seems like a political move by the county to make itself look good. Hope it does something

This is a good step on paper but might create a horrendous mess. LA city (different from county) has a nearly $1 billion budget deficit and is doing things like raising/extending parking meter rates next year and raising garbage collection rates. They should be addressing overall affordability here.

ICE raids were the root cause. Natl Guard were only initially federalized as reinforcements to local policing against the protests and to protect fed buildings. Not quite the same group of people.

I also don't get where LA thinks it's going to secure federal funding for this state of emergency 🤷‍♂️

Wait, really? I'm honestly super shocked. Bass and supervisors have talked a lot of hot air on this topic, including defending LAPD amidst the ask of feds leaving us alone. But if we're looking countywide, yeah. The effects are undeniable.

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

I know it's in the realm of junk food and usually more towards processed with loads of sodium, but they were forbidden to me as a child, so I love them--when I can afford.

More often it's microwave brown rice + veg protein +something colorful + a sauce for this type of easy meal.

I mean I love microwave vegan dinners--Tattoed Chef, etc. Will often add fresh veggies on top like mini peppers, crunchy cabbage, fresh tomatoes etc for some roughage. Will sometimes top off the protein too, if I have some pre-prepped

Worth bringing up that I was an early-ish victim of Facebook's real name policy. Between the end of '15 and beginning of '16 they forced me to do ID verification to get a personal account back that had thousands of followers. They did not accept my ID and forced me to convert to a like page. 🧵

The fact that people my age or younger with their real names as their handles, are running around in FB groups full of unfettered BlueAnon Karens is both funny and depressing to me.

Bro I lived through like 2-3 doxxes of FB groups in the 2010s-20s. What are we doing

Dude. This is not to victim blame activists but I swear FB use is an immediate pipeline to acting like a very tech-unsavvy 80 year old.

If you're going to do virtual activism, please at least use a platform with vaguely? mild barriers to privacy, or that uses encryption if you get subpoena'd.
