Eclectic reader, writer and book tragic; stories and songs make my heart go round. NE England via south coast, Sweden, Australia and London. She/her. Need a proofreader or editor? https://betterworldwords.com/
In my journal, I just used asterisks around a word for emphasis, because I forgot I could just underline it. I have officially spent too long on the internet.

Looking forward to this! Have just been catching up on the last two episodes, which were lots of fun (yes, even the Ministry for the Future one).

Are you sad that your library doesn't stock that book everyone's talking about? Did you know that many libraries will be happy to order it if you ask them? Libraries are amazing and a free way to support authors you love. #SupportLibraries #AmReading

Love this - it's beautiful artwork, but also, what a great way of spreading awareness!
Last week on the North York Moors (Northeast England) - before the weather turned! The freezing cold will probably finish off most of the fungi; hopefully the birds will move out of the worst of it🤞

Only less than 1600 so i can rent a safe place!

My mental state is difficult, and I can’t be around much.:(((((((
My dearest friend set up the weekly and monthly donation options so that we can stay alive after a tent was destroyed just 100 meters away from us last night. The sand covered our faces while we were still alive.

I’m deeply depressed and can’t keep begging one by one for help anymore.

Ooh, what a dream! Take a look to see if you're eligible.
The Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT genuinely changed my life. I learned a ton, witnessed how science is done firsthand, and took my writing career in a new direction. If you write about science/tech, you should apply!! ksj.mit.edu/fellowships/...

A few months ago @thelocal.to got a promising pitch from a writer with bylines in whole bunch of reputable publications—The Cut, The Guardian, Dwell, Architectural Digest, etc. Then I started investigating. Here's a story about fabulists in journalism's AI slop era. thelocal.to/investigatin...
Investigating a Possible Scammer in Journalism’s AI Era | The Local
A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

North American readers, I adore you & am very grateful you want to read my books. Sadly I have no NA deal 😫

BUT you can still order from Blackwell's (physical) or by lying to Amazon about where you live (ebook)?

Even with 20 years experience as a #translator, I had a huge inferiority complex. I always stayed under the radar, never rocked the boat, often accepted crap terms/payment from clients. So when I moved from translation to #editing, I knew that needed to change. (1/4)

As she writes, denizens - meaning a person that lives or is found in a particular place - the mind is a wonderful thing to save ❤️🧐
