He/Him, grew up small town, grown up big city. Educated in theology and politics, which explains why he's really quiet in person. Checks most of the boxes for a progressive with far left sympathies. Striving to be kind. Mostly succeeding.

"[David Brooks] engages in self-reflection the same way that a newscaster on live TV picks his nose: quickly, leaving no evidence that it ever happened." [email protected], from the top rope!

Even David Brooks is welcome in our movement.

Well, scale is a thing, but I think this has always been a problem for political movements. I'm pretty sure you can find analogues in the socialist movement in the 19th century.
Eh. I knew folks like that before "online" was a thing.
Oh no...yeah. That's not good.
Bsky? Social media is definitely weird.
Wasn't very familiar with him but it's a narrative I'm familiar with.
I'm just surprised, because most folks I know on the left are showing up pretty well, but might be selection bias.
That's an interesting posture, for sure.
Pat Buchanan didn't persuade intelligentsia by his works. He wrote books to persuade the people who thought a certain peculiar way that they were intelligentsia. No minds changed.

I think Brooks still doesn't understand that game.

I read one of those works in HS on a whim. Call it a vaccination.
"Had he not landed at the Times, he could have had a more appropriate career as a bad personal therapist. There, he could have only misled one person at a time, whereas journalism gives him the opportunity to mislead millions."

I feel sorry for him after reading that. Ow.
People are talking themselves out of protesting fascism now?
I like parsimony, as a rule, though there are times I will break that rule on a whim.
On the scale of problems these days...yeah. Agreed. I would wonder what the cameras are trying to accomplish.
Everyone is nervous! Let's make them even more nervous!

This is the "freedom" that Republicans offer to white males.
Why are 99.9999% of MAGA men rapists, pedos or women beaters? 🤡

I mean, I'm a big fan of high fantasy, and I've caught a lot more fashy authors in fantasy than in science fiction.
That [referring to the white text on black] is a really dumb take.

I am not upset at this. Less policing, better transit. If we would switch to progressive fines, this would be solid on all levels.
The city equipped six Chicago Transit Authority buses with license plate reader cameras Wednesday to automatically ticket drivers illegally parked in Downtown bus and bike lanes.
Automated ticketing cameras added to 6 Downtown CTA buses
The cameras added to buses are an expansion of a pilot program using cameras to automatically ticket drivers illegally parked in bus and bike lanes.
