Question to NPR news editors: why is the real headline buried halfway down? The one that says “Anger over leak distracts from severe abuse at heart of case”? Because the meat of this story is NOT “scandal,” it’s what the whistleblower exposed and the retaliation being inflicted on her for it.
Also joining groups, online or irl, of folks w/similar issues can really help beat feelings of isolation/aloneness. I wish you progress in your quest to manage all that life has thrown at you.
I hope you can find some kindred folks with somewhat similar experiences, hearing related and also possibly not. I used to see a therapist who was blind (lost his sight as an adult) and he was so insightful as to ability/health issues in my life.
I put a 📌 in this to read in full later, when I have time/ mental bandwidth.I heard part of the Fresh Air interview on this topic last week and this Vought geezer is one abjectly malevolent mofo.
Russ Vought set out to ensure a second Trump term would not be hampered by checks and balances: “I don’t want President Trump having to lose a moment of time having fights in the Oval Office about whether something is legal or doable or moral.”

Russell Vought, Trump’s Shadow President
From the wholesale gutting of federal agencies to the ongoing government shutdown, Russell Vought has drawn the road map for Trump’s second term. Vought has consolidated power to an extent that…

Please understand that people will not be "going without SNAP/EBT/food stamps" - people will be going without FOOD.

Actually and literally.
I feel apologetic for stating the obvious, but it felt obviously missing from this thread.
I feel compelled to comment that U.S. citizens are not inherently more worthy of concern or acknowledgement than other humans; however the discourse U.S. media, politicians & other public figures always have regarded us so, so it’s reasonable to expect more outcry than we’ve been hearing.
Let’s call it what it is, an anti-trans dogwhistle, which is right smack dab in the heart of their goddamn wheelhouse.
Of course the strikes themselves are the really egregious crime here, but the blatant ignoring of opposition Congress members is noteworthy too.
Reshare via @jamiedupree.bsky.social who failed to provide Alt text. Senator @markwarner.bsky.social (D-VA) statement on exclusion of Democratic senators from briefing on military strikes.
*snort* yeah because it’s the most _human_ among us who identify people as colors, and need lists from someone else to filter who they can interact with.
Blatant avoidance of holding a particular entity to account burns up that particular press pass, though, and I think more honest outlets should badger the hell out of the AP to explain its framing.
News organizations are fond of saying they don’t want to be in the news, as they so nobly and objectively want only to report the news. 1/2
"a test"? you mean...a violation?
Salient comment on the publicly spoken gibberish of “Justice” Amy Coney Barrett. Deep shame on every Senator who confirmed this unqualified joke.
NEW: Barrett turns to Fox News, rather than the docket, to explain her silence in key rulings.

Justice Barrett wrote nothing in the racial profiling shadow docket ruling, but had something to say on Fox News Sunday.

Tonight, at Law Dork:
Barrett turns to Fox News, rather than the docket, to explain her silence in key rulings
Justice Barrett wrote nothing in the racial profiling shadow docket ruling, but had something to say on Fox News Sunday. And, for paid subscribers: Closing my tabs.

I’d agree but it seems to me like most folks are doing this nowadays… drives me bonkers!
Footnote: I hate this and find it irresponsible - link to the fucking thing, so I can look at it and maybe think about it and decide what I think, eh?
Soooo once again I find myself wondering about the New Ways of Social Media, which I as Gen X apparently am too ancient to understand. Now people don’t post links to articles etc, about which they have smth to say, instead posting just a screenshot of the headline, with their hot take/comments… WHY?
Spouse and I had a fun time watching #SpinalTap II at our small town cinema with 2 other people… the nostalgia was thick and the cameos fun, but the best part was finding out about drummer Valerie Franco, who beat new life into the Tap!
Fuck that dude, I wish my my hometown could exile him permanently.
ugh, went down the rabbit hole of the thread containing the quoted post, thread in which Larrrrry solidly demonstrated utter shallowness, if not absence, of character.
Wow I just watched the documentary about #Devo on Netflix. I was familiar with their hits as an Mtv tween in the early 80s and I’ve dug Mark Mothersbaugh’s work in cartoons and other shows, but hadn’t realized they were so amazing, and spawned in the aftermath of the murders at Kent State - whew!!
