Every time I write and step into my worlds, I feel safe, like a kid again with all these adventures to experience. And I also love exploring deeper feelings with the characters too.

Is this how you feel when you read? What do you like most about reading?
♥️💃 all the celebration vibes! 🎉
Happy release Krista!

I can't believe it's already official release of this kickstarter! I was so excited when I backed this book in February, so to finally have it is WILD.

Check out @kristawalshauthor.bsky.social on how to grab it directly from her store and Kobo, plus Kindle Unlimited!
The key to creativity?

To me, that's having the time to rest and—as one of my author friends puts it—“fill your well.”

It’s hard to do sometimes (especially if deadlines loom). But things like reading for fun as a writer helps with sparking creativity.

What works best for you to fill your well?
Kat wakes up with amnesia due to head injury after a failed mission. And her presumed-dead best friend is the only one from the mission with answers to what happened, and just how much trouble they got involved with...
Halloween's giving me the vibes of wishing I had magic/spells to always have the right words for describing a scene 😂

A quick wave of a wand and POOF. Suddenly I'd know every word in a thesaurus and exactly how to write out fight scene without confusing myself. Yes please~
When it comes to writing challenges, the thing I’ve learned is to pace yourself. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

And if there’s a day where you can’t hit your goal, be kind to yourself and proud of the progress you DID make that day. Every little bit counts, and you will get there the next day.
Apparently treats have to be on Princess Nova’s terms, not mine or chat’s 😂 Her face says it all
Had to do a quick check-in with myself cause boy… I’m tired.

Today is a reminder to check in with how you feel and always take care of yourself first. Whatever’s on that to-do will get done in time.

So, how are you today?
What I plan to read this season!
- The Ruthless Lady's Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner
- A Hunt Bound in Blood by Krista Walsh
- Hercule Poirot Series by Agatha Christie (I just started this!)
(2/2)
This autumn season, I'm so ready for all the cozy/mystery/witchy reads!

Here's what I recommend and plan to read!

Recommend (all Indie!):
- Hour of Witches Series by Krista Walsh
- Chasing Shadows Series by Zacariah Jones
- Diamond of the Ton Series by Anne Radcliffe & Lynn Morrison
(1/2)
Before a writing session: Me, awake and ready, with water and snacks prepared. Birds are singing. Sun is shining. I totally know what I’m doing…

After a session: Hair disheveled, forgot every word in the dictionary, watching my characters ruin everything, and support snacking is out of snacks 😂
What my tablet sees when I edit...

(An oldie but a goodie post I made way back when. Should do more?)
My ingredients for success this Authtober event:
- the event word count tracker
- all the coffee
- all the snacks
- Major hype
- writing peers ready to work and support each other!

Them: Oh you’re an author?
Me: Yup!
Them: Omg, which publisher are you working with?
Me: Actually, I’m going indie!
Them: … Oooohhhhhhhhh… Isn’t that nice.
Me: * deep breath *
September has been a HARD MONTH. So I’m celebrating surviving it. Simply that.

Let’s celebrate making through it 🥂

And if you have some wins, share them!
September was crazy:
- follow-up appointments from being sick in July
- updates on character art
- draft 6 of Aero Knights done
- poetry book cover done!

Now it's time for another edit pass before sending Aero Knights to a proofreader, and finalize my poetry book.

What’s your October looking like?
What's your LEAST favorite part of writing (and is it editing 😂)?

Normally I enjoy editing, but these days, a chapter that needs lots of rewriting—after already rewritten in past edits—urges me to chuck my computer out the window.

The work's worth it, but the love-hate relationship is real~

One of my earlier poems, and 100% the first one that made me cry. When a supportive relationship and mental health come together for someone, the results can be beautiful.

Darling is a poem about how love is standing together through thick and thin, and being a team.

LOTS of aspiration to share with others that true happiness is from valuing yourself and your core desires vs. allowing outside influence to dictate what your values should be. Basically, love and honor yourself ♥️
Years ago, I did an exercise to discover “why” I write.

I had an idea thanks to my poetry. But for fiction, it really opened my eyes. And it’s now the one writing advice I give.

Knowing your “why” meaningfully dictates your goals and how you write. "Be a bestseller/make money" alone doesn't work.
When you give a cat a treat, you get surprised by where they were hiding 😂
There are days I seriously wouldn’t know how to keep going if it weren’t for my family and friends—cats included. Writing feels so solitary most of the time, but it truly doesn’t have to be.

So here’s to all of us working together and chugging along. You’re not alone.

Who’s on your support team?
