The Reform has dropped the act, openly Thatcherite. The Conservatives are copying them to save their skins. The best way to cut support for the authoritarian right is to stand with people against profiteers in water and energy, and give real security.

Dear politicians,
When we say we want a #WealthTax and to #TaxTheRich, we're not talking about the middle classes, or even the upper middle classes and the pretty well off.
We're talking about the obscenely ****ING rich, i.e. those ****ers with more than the GDP of most countries - tax them!!

Those with the broadest shoulders.....
UK budget freeze on income tax thresholds

Over the next 5 yrs, 780,000 more people, the poorest, will pay income tax for the first time.

Someone earning £50,000 will pay £9,512 in tax, an increase of £1,247 because thresholds are frozen.

Can't grow economy by hitting low/middle income earners.
The government’s budget is simply managing decline
The budget does little to improve living standards or facilitate sustained economic growth

Minister defends 'pragmatic' U-turn on workers' rights.

It was a manifesto pledge

Why no 'pragmatic' U-turn' on nationalising water, energy, rail rolling stock companies and freight; ending privatisation of the NHS and social care; taxing the super rich?

Corporate welfare costs between £85 billion and £180 billion a year in the UK.

If we choose to be angry over the £1 billion motability scheme, we’re allowing ourselves to be both divided and conquered
#Budget2025

Tax breaks for UK company cars cost the exchequer £3.27 billion a year

Motability costs £1 billion

Both are valuable to the folk who get them, and yet we save our pitchforks and torches for disabled people

Anyway from now on we can all legitimately call Reform the "Black Shirts" - given they're flogging them to their actual members.

What an own goal!

Geddit?
It takes a special kind of right-wing British political party to literally sell black shirts.

Are you going to tell them?

Or shall I?

Spending on Privatisation now makes up around 10% of the NHS budget, but they only do about 4% of the work.

More Privatisation is apparently the solution, presumably so in the end they get 100% of the money and do 40% of the work.

The problem with Thatcherism is that eventually you run out of other people's assets to sell.
The central delusion of Thatcherism is the idea politicians can destroy the postwar settlement and replace it with nothing, which in practice turns out to always be panicking governments shoring up the systems they vandalised fuck out of, using sticky tape and wood glue.
