Going back to Mexico today where we’ve permanent residency. It’s a modern country with a female president and reproductive rights for women.
Some neighbors are having their posada today outdoors in the common area of our apartment building complete with a catered meal served by tuxedoed waiters and a bounce house for the kids. We aren't invited so we're going to Zapopan to look at holiday decorations and catch a baseball game instead.

Like every other construction site worldwide, the workers at the high-rise project next door are blasting loud pop music from a radio all day while they work. I suppose it's only a matter of time... #whamageddon

This evening our book club will be discussing Graham Greene's The Power And The Glory over appropriately themed wine and snacks. Last weekend we rented John Ford's 1947 movie (The Fugitive) to gain insight only to find that his story wildly deviated from the book and omitted some key characters.

We've been invited to a bilingual traditional advent service this evening at the Anglican church that will tell the Christmas story through readings and carols performed by the philharmonic. After the service cocktails and appetizers will be served. I'm on the fence about going...hubs says no.

This evening we're going to our first posada (Christmas party) of the season at the American Society. Drinks will be served and it's a food pot luck so I will be making finger sandwiches to share and packing them up to bring to the party on the bus. #lifeinMexico

Today is the Feast of Guadalupe, a bank holiday, but apparently not a construction workers holiday as the high rise project next door continues at full speed. We’ll be making our way to the cathedral later to get in on some of the festivities. There will be fireworks at 10:00 tonight. #lifeinMexico

Another Wednesday date night in the works...dinner and live music at a club that will sadly be closing its doors soon. But first, lunch at another pho place with a friend and former neighbor who became our aval, the person who vouches for the lease on our apartment.

I’m practically giddy to be able to go to the mercado to shop for fresh vegetables today and then enjoy lunch out afterward. Here’s a mural I spotted in front of an urban amusement park while out walking yesterday. I ❤️ Mexico.

I could handle resting at home for the last couple of days because it was overcast and cool outside (and occasionally rainy) but today it’s sunny and warm and I’m gonna need to get outta the apartment. This evening we’ll be grilling on our balcony and watching more football 🏈 . #lifeinMexico

Seems Trump's a bit unhappy about Rep. Henry Cuellar's loyalty after his recent pardon. Ruh roh.

Spent so many hours shopping online for the grandkids' Christmas gifts that we missed our lunch group's oxtail soup event. Instead, we're going for an early dinner at a hot new ramen restaurant nearby. It's overcast and drizzly today and we really want hot soup! #lifeinMexico

Saw a child do this at the airport a couple of days ago. Looked like it really hurt. Not sure why he did it, either.
Just watched someone walk straight into a glass door. Ow.

Our wi-fi went down for a couple of hours and you’ve never heard such sturm und drang. I admit it’s a pain to contact service personnel for assistance in Spanish and it sucks not to be able to stream TV, but come on! Anyhoo, it’s back up and we’ve a dinner engagement so all’s well. #lifeinMexico

After sleeping close to 12 hours I'm almost caught up. This evening I'll be taking the bus to a local wine bar for a ladies wine session. Tomorrow we're dining at a favorite neighborhood steakhouse with our GDL besties, one of whom is taking a short break from medical treatment in Arizona.

Made it back to Guadalajara this morning on a red-eye flight where we actually had a row to ourselves and were able to nap on the plane. Despite horrendous traffic, we got to our apartment in time to grab a couple of hours shut-eye before I headed to a friend's place for my monthly ladies book club.

It’s been so cold here I can scarcely imagine not needing to wear sweaters and fleece, but I’m sure looking forward to it!

We’re leaving for Mexico tonight and the haircut I’d scheduled for this morning has been canceled due to an illness that seems to be going around. Now it appears I need to find a hairstylist in Guadalajara. The hubs goes to a barber college there for free but I don’t think that will work for me.

People ask me all the time whether I feel safe in Mexico. I always respond that I feel safer there than I do in the US. People don’t typically walk around carrying guns in Mexico.

Family day today. Just got back from visiting my son and his family in the suburbs, including my twin 8 year old grandkids. Now the hubs is picking up his mother and bringing her over for dinner. Good to see everyone but so exhausting. At least they’re not MAGA like my son’s next door neighbor. 😳

I found a dozen large eggs at the local grocery store on Wednesday for $2.29 USD so we are having Dungeness crab omelets for breakfast this morning. We’ve been making an effort to enjoy food we don’t get in Mexico while we’re is the US, which really isn’t that difficult.

We'll be bringing our traditional crab mac & cheese with us to the annual Friendsgiving dinner today and visiting with family on Saturday. Thanksgiving Day should be spent in the company of dear friends and like-minded people and you'll never convince me otherwise. #HappyThanksgiving!!

Only one more week before we go back to Mexico. Dental appointments today, then back to the optometrist to adjust the new eyeglasses. Dinner with friends this evening. Freak out about incomplete deferred house maintenance for the rest of the day, I guess. #lifeintheUSA
