Sven Goran Eriksson would be 78 today.
He dreamed of managing Liverpool FC for years and he became a Reds boss for the charity game between LFC Legends and Ajax AFC Legends in March 2024.

Roy Evans was in charge for the first time. It wasn't a great start, but Evans soon started to build things and make the Reds compete again.

Dietmar Hamann scored his first goal for Liverpool FC when the Reds beat Leeds 3-1 on this day in 2000. Didi didn't score too often - just 11 strikes in his entire #LFC career - but when he hit the ball properly, the goalkeepers always struggled.

Kenny Dalglish and David Fairclough were on a scoresheet when Liverpool FC faced West Brom on this day in 1979 at Anfield. The Reds won 2-1, with Ally Brown with a goal for the visitors.

Liverpool FC beat Everton 2-1 at Anfield on 3 February 1990. John Barnes scored first, Peter Beardsley made it two. Graeme Sharp put the Blues back in the game just before the half-time, but LFC kept the lead until the final whistle.

Emile Heskey struck twice when Liverpool FC travelled to Elland Road on 3 February 2002. The Reds won 4-0 - Michael Owen also found the net and Rio Ferdinand scored an own goal.
Heskey started scoring and looked really sharp again after a few frustrating months.

Liverpool FC drew with Manchester United 1-1 at Old Trafford on this day in 1991. New signing David Speedie made his debut and scored the equaliser, following Steve Bruce's goal from the penalty spot.

John Molyneux was born in Warrington on 3 February 1931.
A powerful right-back joined Liverpool FC from Chester in 1955 and he made 249 first-team appearances until 1962. However, he neved played in the First Division, as he lost his place to Gerry Byrne in January that year.

Happy 25th birthday Rhys Williams!
Born in Preston on 3 February 2001, Rhys joined Liverpool FC academy on U-10 level. He made 19 first-team appearances (including 9 in the Premier League) in the 2020-21 campaign. He really stepped up and handled the pressure when it was most needed.

A record-breaking match: 61,905 fans watched Liverpool FC defeat Wolverhampton 2-1 in the FA Cup on 2 February 1952. That's the all-time highest attendance at Anfield, a record that won't be broken until our beloved ground gets another expansion.

Emile Heskey makes it 3-0 as Liverpool enjoy their trip to Upton Park on 2 February 2003. Steven Gerrard and Milan Baros gave LFC a 2-0 lead early in the game and Heskey added another one in the second half.

Luis Suarez scored on his Liverpool FC debut on this day in 2011. Kenny Dalglish introduced him to the pitch in the second half of Liverpool's home game with Stoke City and it took Luis 16 minutes to score his first goal for the club!

Rest in peace Don Welsh, a Liverpool FC manager who died on 2 February 1990.

Born in Manchester on 25 February 1911, Welsh became a LFC boss on 5 March 1951 and remained at his post until 1956. Unfortunately, the Reds were relegated from First Division under his tenure.

1 February 2006: Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Birmingham at Anfield was Robbie Fowler's first game for the Reds after his return to the club. He nearly gave LFC win with a great bicycle kick in the dying minutes, only to be denied by the linesman!

Liverpool were desperate to add centre-backs to their squad in the middle of the 2020-2021 season as the injury crisis hit them really hard. A the end of the winter transfer window they signed Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies, both on 1 February 2021.
That was a weird campaign, really.

Roy Evans took over as a Liverpool FC manager on 31 January 1994.

Although he didn't lead Liverpool to win the league, he managed to build a strong team after a few difficult years under Graeme Souness. He always did his best for Liverpool Football Club.

On this day in 2001: a 1-1 draw at Manchester City. Emile Heskey scored for the Reds a couple of minute before the half-time, but Danny Tiatto equalised for City just after the interval.

A picture from a trip to Brighton on 30 January 1991. Liverpool FC beat the Seagulls 3-2 after extra time in the FA Cup 4th round replay. Steve McMahon scored twice, including the winner and Ian Rush was also on the scoresheet.

We remember William Edward Barclay, Liverpool's first ever secretary and a man who led the Reds to winning the Lancashire League and Second Division.
He was a manager at Liverpool FC and Everton (before LFC was formed).

Barclays died on 30 January 1917. Rest in peace...
