MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN JUST AN HOUR!

Got a car and a little time to spare?

We’re looking for drivers to deliver food parcels to our housebound clients. A small act of kindness can mean the world to our vulnerable neighbours!

At Lewisham we don't turn anyone away, and have a specialist advice worker for refugees and asylum seekers.

We're coming to the end of the school holidays and for families relying on foodbanks this is a really difficult time of year. Plus foodbank supplies run low because many people are away. Please consider donating to your local foodbank today. Someone somewhere will be really grateful.🙏

We're grateful to all our donors who help ensure we can continue to feed everyone who visits our food bank.

Here is our monthly list of much needed items. Every donation, however small, really does help us!

So upsetting to come to work today to find that some our outdoor furniture has been stolen. If anyone sees grey rattan sofas/chairs & cream cushions on their travels please let us know (long shot!).

These were donated and used for volunteers & staff to have a much needed break.

Feeling sad.

Our partnership with The Hygiene Bank is so important to our work. It enables our visitors to get deodorant, laundry products and other personal care items which are essential for all of us and provides a level of dignity and care beyond what food can do.

Thank you!

Today the team at our Catford welcome centre said goodbye to their centre managers Michael and Rebecca. A sad day! We wish them all the best with their new venture in Balham. Their leadership, compassion and good humour will be missed hugely.

Good ½ hr w/ MPs Ellie Reeves & Vicky Foxcroft who heard us talk of the challenges people living in poverty face & what Govt’s chipping away at that will make a difference. It won’t be overnight but it’s a start.

Tomorrow we attend Parliament to lobby MPs. 9.3M UK people face hunger & hardship. Universal Credit doesn't cover essentials. Planned cuts to disabled people’s social security risk plunging more people into poverty

Something has to change! We need to see an end to food banks and soon

Thanks again to our partnership with Acts435 our client was donated a fridge/freezer. It's wonderful to work with organisations that help people to acquire essential goods, just adding a bit of dignity into someone's life.

Such a positive move from @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social & Liz Kendall. Food banks see so many struggling families miss out on this support. Our research shows 135,000 fewer children will now face severe hardship. Great first step, hopefully signalling a more ambitious child poverty strategy to come.

It's National Volunteers' Week. Can you imagine how we would even begin to manage without all our volunteers? We are so grateful for every minute they give to ensure that no one in Lewisham goes hungry. BIG thanks for all they do, seen and unseen.

Any of these items would be much appreciated - but especially tin openers! Most of the food we give out is canned and some of our visitors don't even have the means to open a can.

Thank you all.

*LEWISHAM FOODBANK NEEDS YOU*

We look forward to a future when no one needs a food bank to survive. Until then, we'll continue to provide emergency food and practical help.

Will you support this vital work? Even the smallest donation will make a difference.

Some of our staff team are attending the annual @trusselluk.bsky.social Roadshow. It's always worth remembering that attending a food bank is far more than receiving a food parcel. Feeling welcomed in a non-judgemental environment makes all the difference to a visitor's sense of worth.
