I'm not really qualified to definitively call it a masterpiece of queer cinema, but it kinda feels like that to me. Although I think it works on a variety of levels too.

Finally saw I Saw The TV Glow last night. Incredible film. A brilliantly constructed exploration of identity, being rendered inert through repression, the horror of a life unlived and bonding through shared media consumption. All bathed in a specific and weird vein of 90s/early 2000s nostalgia.

The Pokémon Company games lineup through to 2030 getting leaked is pretty nuts.

I was very shocked to hear that their plans are to make a bunch of Pokémon games.

He didn't advertise the listing as being his, it was just a basic normal spare room in the photos, but in reality it had a jacuzzi en suite and was much nicer. He was out of town for my stay though, I had the whole place to myself.

Peak Airbnb was 2012, when I booked a stay in San Francisco and got the spare room of one of the founders. He had stopped doing that by 2013.

You couldn't make a show like The Inbetweeners these days.

Because none of the cast are at or close to high school age any more.

If there's tension between a developer and a publisher (feels like that might be the case here), it's not a good idea to recklessly force paying customers into the middle of that tension.

If you *have* to do it, spend a lot of time thinking through your messaging, don't just lash out at players.

It's great to support a game/dev by paying full price at launch. It's also great to find an interesting looking game that's on sale, and give it a shot.

Players who buy your game on sale could turn out to be your number one fan and biggest supporters in future. Don't be needlessly hostile to them.

If you are no longer seeing eye to eye with your publisher, and are not happy at the level of discounting they are doing on your game, that's a perfectly reasonable thing to feel.

It's not reasonable to shame a paying customer over that. It reflects worse on you than the publisher or the customer.

I shan't be naming the dev, but here's some general advice for folk in the games industry:
If a player comes to you and says that they bought your game in the latest Steam sale because they saw it and thought it looked cool, please don't respond by shaming them for not having bought it at full price

Makes sense. There is a school of thought that it's also worth getting playtesting from people who are not pre-disposed to be interested in the game in the first place, but I kinda think that folk in your existing community should be the bigger priority.

How did you execute on playtesting? I know there are a variety of commercial services you can outsource this to, and there's a lot of Steam functionality for doing it yourself.

If as part of a culture war, you find yourself transvestigating Pikmin (who are canonically genderless or perhaps monoecious) you need to take a good look at yourself.

I barely ever covered it on SavyGamer because most of the games deals were either not that competitive, things that had been cheaper previously, or even cheaper elsewhere.
