I played some 2e with a group from my jujitsu school. The DM had been playing for 50+years and his game world was older than me.
He had binders on binders of details. The game felt very old school.
I gained 50,000 xp in a moment, and another character vaporized right after.

It was a blast.

Road rage. And people get passionate in the fandoms, politics, religion, etc. So they may come into discussions defensively. Basically, the medium alters the message, and dont treat all mediums the same. An offhand comment to a friend isnt the same as a post online. We should recognize that. 5/5

It is as fascinating as it is frustrating. But I think it is a mistake to communicate here as you would in person or in an article/essay.
And while I understand the frustration, communication online is a multi lane highway without lines, rife for confusion, unforseen interpretation, and online 4/5

And the larger the audience, the more likely the alternate decoding becomes. It's why I dont usually post random thoughts here. Who knows how it will be interpreted?
There is a syntax of online posts that lead to certain interpretations. And that diverges from face to face or written syntax. 3/5

I see posts all the time about someone posting something, then talking about bad faith takes, quote tweets, etc. And yes, some are bad faith rage bait.
But also, some are just unintended interpretation of the post. That isnt necessarily bad faith. Sometimes it is just alternate decoding. 2/5

Recently I spoke to a professor/friend about how when we communicate, and he was explaining to me about how we encode our meaning in our communication and the audience decodes it. But due to differences in people, the meaning can have multiple interpretations.
