Just after Brexit, Farage was knighted by a Russian child on Kremlin funded TV.

Today's UK budget could have delivered for people and planet by taking on the rich and powerful.

But that's not what it did. 👇

The Scottish Greens want to leave the UK
The UK has more than enough money to fund our public services and rebuild our infrastructure. But it's hoarded by a tiny minority.

The 50 richest families now hold more wealth than 50% of the population combined.

A tax on the wealth of the top 1% would raise over £70 billion.

Reeves states she is introducing the high value council tax surcharge in England, an annual £2,500 charge for properties worth more than £2m, rising to £7,500 for properties worth more than £5m.

Taxing wealth!

I’m very impressed by Rachel Reeves today. She’s managed a very difficult job - hope she’s getting a dram or two of whisky now. Well done!
Initial reaction on the budget:

Maintains investment & public spending as set out in the spending review.

More investment in some areas.

Help for those on lower incomes, with the cost of living and pensioners.

Tax increases on those who can afford it.

Overall: great stuff!

Employment Rights Bill

It was back in the Lords again yesterday.

And again the Tories and Lib Dems voted to weaken the bill in 5 areas:

1. Weaking rules banning zero-hours contracts

2. Removing day 1 protection from unfair dismissal

3. Disagreement over a definition of seasonal work

I don’t know. I think if the polls stay the same there could be Caerphilly type elections all over where one progressive party is rallied behind. Reform are proving to be popular but they are the most hated too. With boring old FPTP voters can choose their local MP.
as the fragmentation of the vote continues, and the Tories look more and more irrelevant every day... if we had an election today, there's a very good chance we'd have a #Reform landslide.

certainly not anti Greens, but Reform are currently polling 2x the next highest, and with FPTP...

I can think of no finer marker than to prosecute Tory ministers and former PMs for their part in the absolute criminality of the pandemic.

Labour are doing things differently in government.

One of these is more partnerships.

At a time when money is scarce these partnerships bring great initiatives to save money or make it go further.

The UK employment rate is UP under Labour

I didn't post about this earlier in the week when the data was released, but because yet again the media only gave half the story and mentioned unemployment, I've corrected several people today. So I need to point it out.
