I’m in love with this style you’ve drawn them in! Some of those older sprites were really cookin. I do miss the weirdness of the red, blue, and green version sprites. Haunter always felt extra scary to me.

I think it can be both. I’ve talked to relatives who definitely have their racist dog whistles when they talk about crime, but also when asked “what will you do when food becomes too expensive? Or your Medicare is gone? Or your retirement dries up too fast?” They respond “ill trust gods plan for me”
