My 2nd Substack piece! I touch on sexuality, gender & the importance of physical fitness & getting dirty. Also pottery, embroidery, image transfer/printing & the amalgamations into mixed-media. I’m using this space to organize & archive my creative process in longform, but include a lot of pictures.
Past, Present and Pornography.
Getting romantic about clay, and bodies, and clay-bodies…and embroidery. I discuss where I'm at in my artistic practice while laying more background and offering images of past work. CW - sex/nudity.

Peets!! 😸
Excited to see the colors on that wavy grid pot 🔥
Mood.

Looks like we had our first hard frost this morning. It was a good season! I wish there were more tomatoes though.
Heh heh heh...
A new kiln showed up in my garage today. 😎
It's not perfect, but it's done!
Today I'm finally starting the "patio" for my Raku kiln. I've already been to Menard's and hauled in 400lbs of sand and pea gravel. It's going to be cute AF tho.

Yesterday I expanded the flower and strawberry bed in the back another four feet outwards. I need more berries!

Today's fit check.
Finally unloaded the bisque kiln the other day. The timing is pretty good considering the new kiln should be arriving in the next day or two. 🤩😱

That's just an optical illusion! 🤣😉
A packed bisque load is firing in the ol' Duncan today. 👍🔥

I've been doing drawings from screenshots of the genocide in Palestine off and on for the past two years. Here's this week's sketch.

Inforum: Data centers are sprouting across North Dakota. How many are there & where will the next ones be planted?

Such a shallow piece, typical Inforum reporting. Where is the energy & water coming from that they utilize? Consequences?

Fuck AI.

Not sure if anyone will be interested in reading this drivel but I need to take up more space on the Internet.

Dear Substack,
Here I go again.

Thanks! I made the cake stand special for that show (but had a back up piece ready, just in case). Shipping it wasn't cheap so seeing it make the promo is gratifying 😆
My cobalt cake stand was accepted into this show at the Belger in Kansas City, and they used it in their promo image! 🤩😱

If you're in the area please visit in October and send me photos.

Workbench scenes. I don't really know what the point of this is yet. In a pretty messed up rollercoaster headspace. I've got a length of maybe six feet that I hope to fit into my next Raku firing. Attaching chains to pots isn't the most original but it does seem like a direction this could go. #clay
Made five pints of salsa verde today. The tomatillos came in like crazy this year! I even gave some away. The squirrels took plenty as well. Made a couple pints of pickled carrots from my tiny carrots too.

Okra has also done really well this summer. We seasoned this bowl full and roasted them.
It's been tough returning to the grind this week. I'd like to share more about the experience. It was surreal in an uplifting and fantastic sort of way (I didn't even take shrooms!). Anyway, I think I might start posting on Substack soon, if I can find the time.
I had the opportunity last week to attend a MdW gathering at Itasca State Park, MN. We stayed at the college research station & were able to canoe & bike. There were workshops & beautiful hikes. Woodland Pottery from the White Earth Reservation did a wood-firing with their naturally harvested clay.
