NEW: Recordings from a crisis pregnancy center conference, shared exclusively with Autonomy News, reveal that anti-abortion physicians are reluctant to prescribe abortion pill “reversal”—even as the conservative legal movement uses the supposed treatment to expand CPCs’ free speech rights.
Abortion Pill “Reversal” Is a Hoax. It's Also a Powerful Right-Wing Legal Strategy.
Speakers at a crisis pregnancy center conference made rare admissions about the challenges of providing so-called abortion “reversal,” and indicate its importance as a litigation tool.

I confess I don't understand, and don't wish to understand, the moral principle which states it is disrespectful to protest genocide today, but not disrespectful to commit one.

Good news: y’all have already raised $300!

Bad news: she’s measured further along and the cost has gone up. She needs a total of $3,400 now in addition to the $1,000 we already pledged. Our goal is now $2,500 to raise for her and we will cover the rest of the balance.

Just a reminder that mifepristone is incredibly safe and has been approved by the FDA for a quarter of a century. You can purchase medication abortion (mifepristone and misoprostol) online and have it shipped to your home through @aidaccess.bsky.social. Mifepristone has a shelf life of 5 years.

Vaccine deniers have learned from abortion opponents that you can ban health care without actually making it illegal––stigmatize it and make it inaccessible. It's meant to make us distrust science and disbelieve what we see with our own eyes. My latest for @truthout.org: truthout.org/articles/fda...
FDA’s Arbitrary Restrictions on Vaccines Are Right Out of Anti-Abortion Playbook
Anti-vaxxers are copying a core anti-abortion strategy: if you can’t make it illegal, make it inaccessible instead.

Hi Bluesky! Have I mentioned my book UNBEARABLE: Five Women and the Perils of Pregnancy is out October 28? It tells a bigger story of reproduction in America through the experiences of five women, and it’s available for preorder now: bookshop.org/p/books/unbe...

Abortion opponents have firebombed and shot up abortion clinics. They've murdered 11 abortion providers and stalked, harassed, and terrorized untold others. I personally have been doxxed, threatened, and stalked.

They aren't interested in talking to us. They hate us. They want us dead. Literally.

Does Klein earnestly believe the reason you don't see progressives tour conservative evangelical churches to defend abortion or some such is that progressives are dispositionally less interested in debate and civil discourse than the right? Genuinely? www.nytimes.com/2025/09/18/o...
Ezra Klein Is Worried — but Not About a Radicalized Left
‘They’re failing and rethinking nothing.’ But I hold to the view I did describe, which is that there was an almost delight in engagement, a sense that disagreement could be the start of something — even if it was only to disagree for the people on your own side.

I think the left did not adopt that particular attitude. The left was more likely for quite some time to try to keep someone like Kirk or Ben Shapiro from speaking on campus than to happily debate with them and do the reverse — which is like, “Can you do a speaking tour of evangelical churches?” Can you actually go into the places you feel are most hostile to you and treat that as an interesting place to begin a conversation, even if only to sharpen your own arguments?

Douthat: I wanted to ask you on exactly that point, do you think that there’s anyone on the left who does that kind of thing? It’s almost the bunker that progressivism has built for itself, that it’s hard to imagine someone doing that.

So many 'progressive' orgs behave like this and it sucks. People work here because they believe the work is important and they get treated like garbage while their employers talk a big public game about how great they are.

The Board of @apiaryps.bsky.social just surprise-fired their entire staff (amazing, dedicated folks) and put the organization on "pause" because the Board hated that the staff demanded they live up to actual RJ values. I saw this firsthand working with Apiary. I'm disgusted but not surprised.
laurenarankin.bsky.social
Diana, you and I both know what happened here. You can try to spin this, but I watched it unfold. The staff didn't fire me as a consultant--the Interim ED that you all appointed and then had fire everyone else did. But go ahead.
laurenarankin.bsky.social
In the last 5 months, the Apiary Board appointed one of their own, Odile Schalit, as Interim ED and another member, Diana Parker-Kafka, whose term is supposed to end this year, as Board President. It's hard not to see today's mass firing of all staff and organizational pause as their ultimate goal.

In repro, we see a lot of abuse and toxicity, and there's a pressure to "keep quiet" so that we don't hurt the work. But the work isn't hurt by demanding that our leaders abide by the values we espouse. It's hurt by Boards like Apiary's refusing to reflect and treat employees with basic respect.
laurenarankin.bsky.social
I saw a Board member verbally abuse a staff member over text message. I heard Board members call the staff was "hostile" for wanting to live out anti-racist ideals. The Board appointed their own member as Interim ED just a few months ago, all while promising to support staff. Today, they fired them.

I have never worked with an org that had a more impactful mission--strengthening the fabric of practical support for abortion seekers--and dedicated, hardworking staff that was undermined every step of the way by its Board. At this moment, to "pause" the org and fire everyone is disgraceful.

Prominent anti-abortion operatives are deeply entangled in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a woman in Texas, and it doesn't quite pass the smell test. For @truthout.org, I wrote about how abortion opponents may have found a new avenue to attack medication abortion. truthout.org/articles/wro...

"We're all throwing dildos at women athletes to promote our memecoin" really puts a fine point on not just how sexist, mean and stupid so much of right now is, but also the grim degree to which we're just inundated with Stuff a 15-Year-Old Dipshit Would Think is Cool. A confederacy of Beavises.

A federal appeals court recently upheld West Virginia's insidious medication abortion ban. For @truthout.org, I wrote about what that means, its long-term implications, and why everyone who can get pregnant should purchase medication abortion now. truthout.org/articles/fed...
Federal Appeals Court Upheld West Virginia Ban on Medication Abortion. Now What?
If the Supreme Court gets involved, it could set national precedent for states to ban medications approved by the FDA.

This is a BIG deal and people need to be following this - If it goes to the Supreme Court, it could allow states to go over the FDA and ban whatever medication they want to ban. (including hormones/surgeries for trans people)

It is fucking insane that we had a decade of people complaining about the dangers of cancel culture, and now literally hundreds of thousands of people are being purged from government jobs for ideological reasons, but that is not cancel culture.
